The original DC Comics’ one-shot special Infinite Frontier and it looks like the 1940s Green Lantern might end up being vital in the DC Universe’s future.
The one-shot will be 64 pages previewing what readers can expect in the new year from stories by a wide range of writers and artists, including Scott Snyder, Geoff Johns, James Tynion IV, Brian Michael Bendis, Joelle Jones, John Romita Jr., and more. Infinite Frontier will establish the foundation for the DC Universe going forward, following the events of Dark Nights: Death Metal and the conclusion of Future State, which will dominate DC's entire line in the first two months of 2021. Stories will feature a slew of superheroes - as seen on the cover below by Dan Jurgens and Mikel Janin - such as Superman, Wonder Woman, Stargirl, the Spectre, Red X, and several others.
The original Green Lantern Alan Scott returns in a new story written by James Tynion IV (Batman, Justice League). The premise is said to be integral in the grand scheme of what’s to come in the DC Universe, but not much has been hinted otherwise regarding Alan Scott’s role in it. However, it seems that the heroes the one-shot will be spending time on share a thread that indicates the new era will look back at some of DC’s the neglected roots. Alan Scott’s Green Lantern is easily the most notable of the returning legacy characters.
Alan Scott most desire to emphasize classic components of their heroes, but with new twists.
Although Alan Scott might not have a sidekick in his own Jon Kent or Damian Wayne, it’s possible that his positioning next to Stewart could imply more involvement with the Green Lantern Corps. In the past, Scott has famously not been a part of the Corps which has made him stand out from the other Green Lanterns. In any case, it seems that the next phase of the DC Universe will make an effort to pay homage to its history, while not allowing it to compromise new vision. Infinite Frontier #0 will release on March 2, 2021 priced at $5.99 and $6.99 for card stock variant.
