Hal was the first Green Lantern recruited from Earth and shortly after, John was selected as Hal's back-up. The two Lanterns didn't always see eye-to-eye (in fact, Hal and John were rivals before ever going Green), but after serving in the Corps together, the two became close allies and even friends. And while things have been rough for the Green Lanterns, such as Oa's recent attack and John being held hostage by Pariah, their bond is as strong as ever.

John and Hal Are Lighting The Way For Green Lantern

Hal Jordan and John Stewart as Green Lanterns

While there isn’t any preview art for the series just yet, this is exciting news for fans of the Green Lantern franchise. Hal Jordan and John Stewart are two of the most popular of the Corps, arguably due to their longtime presence in the DC Universe, as well as their appearances in other media such as Justice League: The Animated Series or the Green Lantern film. It's understandable that they'd be the ones to headline two separate titles.

Some may feel that their preferred Lantern may have been ed over with only Hal and John getting ongoing series. But with nearly ten Earth-based Green Lanterns, it’s unlikely that they’d all get a title for themselves. Hal Jordan and John Stewart may get the lead roles, but Green Lantern has always been about the Corps rather than any one hero. It's almost certain that Hal or John will be calling on their Earthling allies for help as they cast their lights into the coming darkness. Fans eager to see what the Dawn of DC has in store for the Green Lanterns should keep their eyes peeled for when the adventure begins in April 2023.
