The ring of a Superman. Hal Jordan inadvertently revealed his Power Ring can come up construct capable of preying on one of Clark Kent’s most severe weaknesses.

The rings of the Green Lantern Corps operate pretty simply. With enough willpower and imagination, a Lantern can create virtually anything they can dream up. The Green Lantern Ring's potential power level is basically limitless. By channeling the Green Light of Will, those with Power Rings can create fully functioning weaponry, medical equipment or even kaiju-sized mech suits. As long as its s put enough thought and determination into their creations, there’s pretty much no limit to what a Lantern can manifest. By selecting the most capable s to wield the universe’s most powerful weapon, the Green Lantern Corps has been able to keep the peace in the furthest reaches of the DC Universe.

The Corps was able to show off just how powerful their rings were in The Green Lantern #4 by Grant Morrison and Liam Sharp. Hal Jordan is regaling a story in which he and his fellow Corpsmen stopped a being known as a Sun-Eater from decimating a crop of young suns. Jordan recognized that the creature was attracted to the energies put out by the Green Lantern’s constructs. With this in mind, the motley crew creates a decoy sun using every bit of energy in their rings and are able to generate a celestial body that allows them to dispatch the Sun-Eater and keep the universe safe for another day.

Green Lantern Power Ring Sun Creation DC Comics

Creating a fake sun that essentially operates in the same way as a real one is impressive, even for a Green Lantern. But this next-level construct creation might leave the Man of Steel with something to worry about. Fans know that Superman's biggest weakness are the radioactive pieces of his home planet, aka kryptonite. While it's actually possible for a Green Lantern to create a Superman-killing amount of Kryptonite, they might not have to. A lesser exploited weakness of Kryptonians is the rays of a red sun. Superman was born under a red sun and radiation that mimics its energy robs him of the powers imbued by yellow solar rays.

With that logic, it's not inconceivable to assume that the Green Lanterns have a secret trump card that can deal with the most powerful being in the DC Universe. The Corps regularly comes up with creative ways of dealing with cataclysmic threats and with Superman's weaknesses being as well-known as they are, it shouldn't be too hard for the Lanterns to generate a similar sun that can mimic red solar radiation. All it took was a handful of Corps to generate one sun, so a few more could reasonably generate enough red sun radiation to stop the Kryptonian hero if they ever needed to. Given that Green Lantern has used his powers more creatively than Superman, he might just have the edge. The Green Lanterns can easily take on Superman by going after another one of his classic Achilles' heels.
