With season 19 of Grey's Anatomy currently airing, fans are still asking what happened with April and Jackson and why did April and Jackson divorce. The couple has become a fan favorite thanks to the nice moments that they share at the beginning of their relationship. Jackson appears in a season 19 episode as Meredith goes to see him, which is sweet to see, and it's also nice to know that Jackson and April have worked through any problems and differences and found a way to be together again. But despite the love that fans have for Grey's Anatomy couple Jackson and April, there are several aspects of this love story that don't add up.

April And Jackson Didn't Reunite Right Away

When April left Seattle for Boston in season 17, she didn't get back together with Jackson right away. Fans found out in season 18 that the characters got back together. This was confusing because, with their long history and strong feelings that they have for each other, wouldn't they reunite immediately?

With so many fans wishing that Jackson and April would find their way back to each other and wondering why Jackson and April got divorced, it would have been better if the couple had re-committed with a sweet romantic moment. Instead, the decision for April to move seemed simple and practical.

April's Restraining Order

When Jackson's mother Catherine found out that April was pregnant, Catherine decided that Jackson should have custody of the child. When April learned about this, she became scared and got a restraining order against Jackson.

While April was upset and hurt, this storyline didn't make any sense as it went against April's character. This can be seen as a confusing April Grey's Anatomy plot hole as April was always kind and caring and willing to listen to someone, even when experiencing a tough time in her life. It seems like April would have approached this another way.

No One Had April's Back

When April was going through her crisis after the death of Samuel, which is one of the most heartbreaking Grey's Anatomy deaths, there was really no one in her corner. While dealing with her grief, April made the difficult choice to leave Jackson and get the space needed to process and express her emotions. Instead of offering help, whispers circled the hospital instead of ive hands from those she called friends and family.

While fans understand that maybe they didn't want to pressure her here, what they couldn't comprehend is why no one was checking in on April after the divorce was finalized. Other than Arizona, everyone left her alone. April needed and deserved comfort from others besides Jackson.

The Trip To See Jackson's Dad

Throughout their breakup, fans have always held out hope that the pair could get it together. There were moments where it appeared it would finally happen, but none better than the trip to Montana where Jackson met his estranged father. As fans , April was there by his side the entire time.

Fans were given a glimpse of how great the two are together and held out hope for a future. The writers even teased fans with a possible reunion. However, nothing came from it. Viewers couldn't understand why they paired them on this trip only for it to end with emotional repercussions.

The Wedding Crasher

For TV, what Jackson did was perfect. He waited for his moment and then struck. But in a sensible world, that could not have happened. Although the show is known for its over-the-top moments, and there are some big romantic gestures on Grey's Anatomy, Jackson crashing April's wedding took the cake. Was there really a need for it to go down like that?

Jackson and April work together. There were plenty of times they could have expressed their feelings for another but chose not to. So, in a blink of an eye, she left her fiancé standing at the altar and ran off with a man who was there with another woman.

Harriet

No blame is ever placed on a baby. But fans can't help but wonder whether the writers were looking to correct a mistake and unfortunately made another huge error. Why add a child to something they have portrayed as dysfunctional? The Harriet storyline makes no sense for a couple that could not see eye to eye.

It did feel as if the writers were deciding whether this was a good chance to save a relationship they were clearly rooting for and were testing to see if the family dynamic would work. However, all this did was prolong their crash into a wall.

Another Broken Family

Despite Grey's success, one thing they have failed to showcase has been their outlook on family. Owen has kids with two different women and Mark died leaving Sophia with no father. Richard Webber and Maggie often ignore their father and daughter bond and Meredith is raising three kids alone after the death of Derek.

Jackson and April could have been the gold standard for Grey's Anatomy in of family. Grey's could have pushed the boundaries with this interracial relationship. Grey's is a show which focuses on broken families. With April and Jackson, they had a chance to break new ground. Why break up this union that had so much potential?

The One-Night Stand

Things happen in life that are just unexplainable. The pairing of Jackson Avery and April Kepner was like tasting the forbidden fruit and going back for seconds. But what didn't make any sense was not the fact that they were paired together, but how it happened.

As fans , April made the impulsive decision to sleep with Jackson the night before her Boards. However, what fans didn't understand is where this attraction came from. Although they were best friends, they had never expressed a romantic interest in each other until this point. After all, Jackson had just broken up with Lexie and itted to still loving her. The lack of build-up took everyone by surprise.

April Leaving

Losing a child can cause either or both of the parents to break down. When Jackson and April lost their first child, it was heartbreaking to say the least. Both went into a tailspin, but it was April who took it the hardest. Instead of finding a way to cope with family, friends, or especially Jackson, April sought refuge in helping others in need.

She left Jackson alone and then came back, pretending to act as if Jackson didn't give her an ultimatum months before. What made this so awful was that it was way out of character for her. That was not the April fans have cheered and stood up for. Despite her flaws, April has always attacked her troubling issues head-on.

The Circle Back

April and Matthew getting married on Grey's Anatomy

What was the point of April ending up with Matthew? Faith is a strong thing to deny no matter how hard one may try. But April left Matthew at the altar then got married and had a child with the person she left Matthew for. While April and Jackson did have their troubles, was the plot worth it?

In the end, the writers felt it would be better suited for April to circle her way back to Matthew after she had done one of the worst things possible. It was the writer's way of saying they made a huge error in the Jackson and April storyline. When looking at the major relationships on Grey's Anatomy, this didn't make sense.
