Medicine is one of those jobs where the professionals have to be at their best at all times. This has been evident quite evident in Grey's Anatomy, where the Shondaland drama has some of the best doctors and surgeons to ever walk on Planet Earth.
However, when it comes to their love lives, the doctors seem to make poor choices on a regular. Why such intelligent people are so clueless about love matters might be baffling but relationships are complicated. Anyone can mess up and the doctors aren't the only culprits. Some of their patients and family need relationship tutorials too.

Addison makes some questionable dating choices in the show. She and her husband, Derek Shepherd, are married for 11 years before their relationship begins to crumble (as a result of an affair). Many fans have questioned that, out of all the people she could have chosen to have an affair with, she chooses her husband's best friend, Mark Sloan.

However, after he cheats several times, Addison decides that they aren't ready to raise a child and gets an abortion. While Mark and Addison attempt to make another go of their relationship, Addison realized she had feelings for Alex (who had feelings for Ava). It was a bit of a mess near the end.
Denny Proposes To Izzie And Leaves Her $8.7 Million Dollars
Denny must be the most generous TV boyfriend of all time. The future seems bright for him when he is finally called to get his heart transplant. Sadly, the donor is revealed to have coronary artery disease. This means Denny can't get the heart. He goes back home then returns after his condition gets worse.
While itted, he falls in love with Izzie. Despite not being in the best state to assess a potential life partner, he proposes to her. As if that's not questionable enough, he leaves her $8.7 million after he dies. Quite generous for someone he's only known for a short time. Some might argue that with that amount, he could have sought treatment at a better hospital in the world.
Jackson Tells April He Loves Her In Front Of Stephanie
Jackson and Stephanie's relationship is an awkward one. Their relationship starts when the two hooked-up after missing out on Bailey's wedding. Jackson later prevents Stephanie from meeting his mother because he doesn't want her to be interrogated. In truth, he just doesn't see her as "The One."
His mother later bumps into them trying to hook-up in the on-call room, thus making for an awkward first encounter. However, the worst had to be when Stephanie accompanies Jackson to April's wedding, he stands up and declares his love for April. This way, he embarrassed Stephanie in front of everyone. He should have just broken up with her sooner if he didn't like her.

Well, marrying someone who has just confessed that he wanted to marry someone else just to benefit from them seems odd. That's a red "selfishness" flag. Later on, Teddy and Henry fell in love but this relationship was short-lived when he unfortunately died.
Derek Goes Back To Addison After Meredith's "Choose Me" Speach
Meredith delivers one of the greatest monologues in TV history after learning that Addison wants Derek back. Derek is hesitating to sign the divorce papers and this makes Meredith insecure.
She goes on to deliver a lengthy speech to him that includes the infamous words: "Pick me, choose me, love me!” Despite Meredith's pleas, Derek decides to give Addison another chance. However, many fans have questioned why he left the woman he was in love with when he was adamant that he could never forgive Addison or Mark for what they did?

George Cheats On Callie With Izzie
Izzie is clearly jealous of George and Callie's relationship. She keeps mocking Callie but Callie remains civil. Perhaps the worst comment she makes about Callie is regarding the ring George got her. She says it's cute before adding that no one will ever steal it, suggesting that it's cheap.
After an argument with Callie, George drinks with Izzie before sleeping with her. It's a brutal and selfish thing to do because Callie hasn't wronged him in any way. Callie even tries to forgive him after the affair but he doesn't let her. Bad mistake because this romance doesn't work either and Izzie goes on to be with other people in the future.
Andrew DeLuca Breaks Up With Maggie Because Of People's Opinions
In a relationship, it's advisable to listen to your heart and mind rather than people's words. It appears Andrew DeLuca doesn't subscribe to that school of thought.
The two begin their relationship after getting drunk and sleeping together. Maggie tries to avoid him but the two can't avoid staying away from each other. They argue a few times but become stable and decide to make things official. However, Andrew becomes uncomfortable that people are talking about them, so he breaks up with her. It doesn't make much sense really as he later goes on to date Meredith (who was also an attending).
