Ever since the release of Grand Theft Auto 5 fans have wondered what's next for the series, with years of GTA Online updates going by. There have been plenty of rumors out there for Grand Theft Auto 6, but Rockstar hasn't confirmed anything.
One of the more interesting rumors out there revolves around the setting of GTA 6, and how it'll take things back a few decades into the past. It wouldn't be the first time the series has had a setting in the past, as Vice City took place in the 1980s.
Setting Grand Theft Auto 6 in the 1970s or '80s would be an interesting move on Rockstar's part, and could help breathe new life into the long-running series.
What a 1970's Setting Could Bring to GTA
One of the more prevalent theories about Grand Theft Auto 6 is called the Red Dead Redemption 2.
More than that, however, a 70s setting would allow Rockstar to experiment with the age of time. It's been nearly 20 years since the release of Vice City, and technology has advanced astronomically since then. Rockstar could use the setting of GTA 6 to show a city growing and changing over time, even over decades. If players start in the 70s and advance to the 80s, their decisions could help shape the city and story.
