Yet another the only piece of marketing material GTA 6 has released - but that may change.

A post on X (formerly Twitter) by fan GTA 6+ insists that there's something meaningful in a recent social media post by Rockstar, hinting at a January 30 release date for GTA 6's second trailer. The theory goes like this: a series of numbers on a shipping container in the corner of an image recently posted to the official Rockstar in order to this month's GTA+ benefits add up to 30, except for an isolated "2" in a white box. The poster holds that this suggests trailer number "2" could be coming on the 30th.

Fans Of GTA 6 Think These Numbers On A Shipping Container Have Meaning

But Are They Just A Coincidence?

The latest GTA 6 trailer theory is based on a post to the official Rockstar X , promoting the free Vapid Dominator GT that GTA+ subscribers can claim in GTA Online this month. The Dominator is surrounded by shipping containers, including one in the upper-left corner of the image, which prominently displays a string of numbers that add up to 30: 822693. This theory coincides with the fact that Rockstar's past two major releases - GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 - both revealed their release dates via trailers that came out on Thursdays. And guess what day of the week January 30 falls on?

Others chose to read the numbers differently, pointing to the sequence "82226" - in other words, perhaps an August 2, 2026 release date for GTA 6. Of course, that would mean the game has been delayed from its previous 2025 release window, and it would leave the "93" at the end hanging without explanation.

Analysts Claim Making GTA 6 $80-$100 Would Be A "Turning Point" For The Gaming Industry, & Fans Aren't Happy

A gaming analyst has commented that many are hopeful for Grand Theft Auto 6 to change the industry standard of pricing, potentially charging $80-100.

Still, there's some merit to the shipping container theory in general: the numbers stick out like a sore thumb to the point that they're genuinely distracting. It seems odd, to say the least, that whoever took the screenshot wouldn't move the car or the container out of the way. And after looking at tens of images of shipping containers in GTA 5, I can't find a single one that appears to have this particular sequence painted on it.

Several GTA 6 Theories Have Been Rumbling Around The Internet

But None Of Them Have Held True

But again, this is just one of about a million different GTA 6 trailer theories currently circulating online - and none of those have proven true yet. First, fans held another trailer would be released to coincide with the one-year anniversary of the previous trailer. Others insisted that a trailer would come before the end of 2024 to reveal a more specific 2025 release window. Still others hoped for a reveal in early January, to start 2025 off with a bang.

A former Rockstar dev has even itted that this kind of wild speculation is great for GTA 6. Instead of spending millions on advertising GTA 6 traditionally, Rockstar is keeping it relevant by doing absolutely nothing, allowing fan conversations to crop up organically every few weeks. Still, this radio silence can only go on so long. There has to be some sort of update in the pipeline. Either way, I'd encourage Grand Theft Auto 6 fans to take this latest theory with a grain of salt to avoid disappointment if it doesn't turn out to be true.
