It is close to being nine long years since Rockstar released the revolutionary GTA 5, and with still no release date set for GTA 6, many fans are worried they may ruin the iconic memories of Vice City. It is no secret that GTA 5 was one of Rockstar's best games of their series, but the original Vice City setting remains a favorite among fans. With that in mind, Grand Theft Auto players have their fingers crossed that Rockstar has used the nine years to create a captivating storyline that only adds to memories of Vice City - instead of tarnishing its legacy.

Released in 2002, the original rendition of Vice City captured fans' and critics' hearts alike through Tommy Vercetti's rise to criminal power. From start to finish, the storyline featured gripping missions and countless plot twists; many will want more of the same for a Grand Theft Auto 6 story set in the same location. Yet with the possibility of GTA 6 stretching gameplay across multiple cities, Rockstar will have a great deal of work that doesn't directly relate to that single setting or to the game's story.

Although there is still no release date set for GTA 6, there is some worry among fans that Rockstar could fall short with the game's development needs. Many Grand Theft Auto fans love GTA 5, but this love often stems from the incredible online world of GTA Online rather than the storyline of the core game. The three-way story split of GTA 5 certainly lacked the punch and the emotional connection between player and game that some past entries did, and many put this down to Rockstar's attention being focused on the online mode.

Rockstar's Priorities May Put GTA 6's Vice City Setting At Risk

Those who have followed the GTA series will know that Rockstar needs to do more than create a unique online world to keep everyone happy. Teaming up with friends to complete online heists and cause whatever other mischief is no doubt fun, but this shouldn't come at the expense of filling the Miami-inspired map with thrilling missions. Critics feel that Rockstar should not fall for the 'bigger is better' philosophy when creating GTA 6's map. With the prospect of reappearances from characters like Ken Rosenberg, Umberto Robina, and of course Tommy Vercetti, Rockstar has the potential to create some spine-tingling memories that could be ed for countless years. But, if Rockstar's focus is once again set on the online world, all these opportunities could be missed or poorly executed, ruining Vice City.

In February, Rockstar stated on its Take-Two financials could make a GTA 6 online mode more important than a single-player story.

Despite the potential worry and speculation around how Rockstar may treat Vice City's beloved legacy, there still remains a lot of excitement. GTA 6 certainly has the potential to be the best game in the series, but to achieve this, Rockstar must place its focus on piecing together a gripping storyline.
