Lamar is back at it again with calling out Franklin's Special Ability from the Story Mode in Grand Theft Auto: Online. The Contract, GTA: Online's newest update, launched across all platforms. This DLC is made available at no additional cost for anyone who owns the game. The Contract is set roughly eight years in the future after the events of Grand Theft Auto 5 and contains new missions, properties, and businesses in the game. The popular character Franklin Clinton returns with Chop the Dog and his best friend Lamar.
One of the features of both Grand Theft Auto 5 and its online component is the Special Ability feature. Each protagonist has a unique Special Ability that gives them a certain in-game advantage. Franklin's Special Ability, Driving Focus, allows him to slow time when driving any land vehicle. This ability returns for Franklin in GTA: Online. By using Driving Focus, Franklin can easily turn corners at full speed, making careful maneuvers quickly. When Franklin's Special Ability is activated, the screen turns a slight hue of green, and actions in-game happen at a slower speed. Vehicle controls become smoother and Franklin can do dangerous turns and slides without losing control of the vehicle.
As pointed out by the GTA Base Twitter , Lamar calls out Franklin's Special Ability from the Story Mode in The Contract. In the video clip originally posted by the GTA Series Videos Twitter , Lamar can be heard telling Franklin, "Don't be doin' none of that supernatural freaky driving and s*** you be doing [...] When you go all cross-eyed like you constipated or some s***."
Lamar's comment shows in part Franklin's fate after the events of GTA 5: the two have remained close friends after the events of GTA 5. This friendship just might explain why Lamar is the only in-game character that acknowledges Franklin's Special Ability. He had commented on the ability in Grand Theft Auto 5 and now has once again commented on it in this new DLC for Grand Theft Auto: Online.
Like any truly close friend, Lamar enjoys roasting his best friend and partner-in-crime Franklin. In Grand Theft Auto 5, Lamar roasts Franklin for his "yee-yee a** haircut." This moment in the game quickly turned into a meme because fans loved the profanity-laden cutscene so much. Rockstar Games even referred to the famous meme by having Lamar once again roast Franklin in GTA: Online. With Lamar's constant roasts of Franklin, it is obvious that the bromance between the two characters has thrived over the years.
Grand Theft Auto 5 and GTA Online are available to play now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One platforms.
