Usually, it's the witty smart-alecks like Tony Stark who serve as a film's comic relief. But somehow, Marvel has managed to make its most serious hero into the one of the funniest characters in the MCU. Drax the Destroyer can't even comprehend metaphors (let alone tell a joke), but he still manages to churn out hilarious soundbites that have audiences in tears every time he's onscreen.
Whether he's hurling himself into the mouth of a giant space monster or low-key hitting on Thor, it's undeniable that Drax has become one of the MCU's highlights. Yet he also has a big heart and a great love for his friends. All of these qualities contribute to some of Drax's best quotes in the MCU.

In Guardians of the Galaxy, Rocket tells the other Guardians that metaphors will go over Drax's head, and Drax responds with this famous line, cracking up audiences while demonstrating that he really is clueless when it comes to metaphors. Because his people are so literal, every idiom, abstract comparison, and play on words is lost on Drax.
With this one quote, Drax showed just how much potential he had as a comedic character. His appearance might be intimidating, but his overly serious persona mixed with his lack of understanding made him such an entertaining character.

The Guardians are not the typical group of heroes in the MCU, and they are just as likely to cause problems as they are to save the day. But Drax seems especially unpredictable as a hero, often derailing the team's mission with his oblivious nature.
As the heroes gather to determine their best chances of defeating Ronan, Drax repeats something that was just said before itting that he wasn't listening. Even with the galaxy at stake, Drax can get lost in his own little world, and the idea of that makes it one of the funniest MCU quotes according to fans.

One of the most repeated Drax jokes among fans has inspired countless memes since Avengers: Infinity War was released. After Quill and Gamora find Drax standing silently nearby, he insists he has figured out how to become invisible.
It is a silly moment that only works because Drax has such a detached sense of reality. Dave Bautista's earnest delivery makes it even funnier, as Drax its he has been standing there for hours.

Though Drax is likely proficient with all kinds of weaponry, he seems to have a particular fondness for knives. This is first seen in one of his first ever scenes in the MCU when Drax disarms a fellow prisoner before deciding he is keeping the knife.
Even with him bullying the other would-be assassin into giving over his weapon, Drax shows his childish side, acting like he's taking toys from other kids on the playground. The other prisoner's sad remark that it was his favorite knife adds to the hilarity.

It is not surprising that Drax is the funniest character in the holiday special, as his brand of fun doesn't really fit with the holiday season. While the other characters get in on the festive feel, Drax is still more interested in violence and death.
After hearing the story of Yondu ruining Christmas for Quill, Mantis remarks how sad it is. Drax agrees, but his reasoning for hating the story is very different. The fact that Drax was listening to the tale of young Quill trying to celebrate the holiday and wishing it would end with a death is hilariously dark.

The Guardians of the Galaxy are underdogs within the MCU and cannot always be counted on to be the heroes. This is especially true of Drax, who thinks violence is the obvious first recourse for any offense.
After the Nova Corps promises to wipe their slate clean, the Guardians begin wondering just how closely they have to follow the law going forward. Drax's question about removing someone's spine leads to Corpsman Dey explaining that it would be murder, which doesn't seem to bother Drax in the slightest.

Drax is the kind of friend who would be ideal to have in battle, but he might not be the friend who delivers helpful advice to those in need. He might mean well, but whenever he tries to give advice, he usually ends up horribly insulting the person he was attempting to help in the first place.
When Quill seems lost in his relationship with Gamora, Drax explains that they are just two different people. It is surprisingly valid advice from Drax, but he follows it up by suggesting that Quill would be better off with someone pathetic like him. So close, Drax.

The Guardians of the Galaxy: Holiday Special (2022)
There have been a lot of great MCU cameos over the years, but the appearance by Kevin Bacon in The Guardians of the Galaxy: Holiday Special was especially fun. But the excitement of having the legendary Kevin Bacon quickly wears thin for Drax as he discovers that he is just an actor.
Their disgust for actors and their disappointment over his lies cannot dampen Bacon's spirits as he takes in the wonder of the cosmos. But Drax still feels it is necessary to tell him exactly how he feels in a very blunt way.

The pairing of Drax and Mantis has become a favorite non-canon MCU couple for many fans. However, they seem to work better as a mismatched pair of friends, and their relationship started from a hilariously odd place in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
For the entire movie, Drax feels the need to point out that he thinks Mantis is a particularly ugly creature. At the end, as Mantis comments on how beautiful the tribute to Yondu is, Drax lets her know he sees beauty in her too, but still has to slip in this insult.

When Thor is brought aboard the Milano in Avengers: Infinity War, the Guardians of the Galaxy offer commentary on his physical appearance, with all of them in awe of the muscular Asgardian except for Quill.
Drax is not one to give out compliments freely, so his immediate iration for the God of Thunder is particularly telling. It suggests there might have been a missed opportunity in not giving these two characters more time together.
