progress on Vol 3. remains on track despite the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
One of the key components of the Guardians films are Fleetwood Mac's "The Chain" in Vol. 2. Because of that, expectations are high for Vol. 3's soundtrack.
However, not every song Gunn came up with ended up in the film. Gunn shared a playlist titled "Meredith Quill's Complete Awesome Mix" on Twitter and shared some insight about a few of the songs that were cut from the first two films. For example, "Livin' Thing" by Electric Light Orchestra and "Magic" by Pilot were used in scenes that ended up being cut. Additionally, "She's Gone" by Hall & Oates was included in Vol. 2's script, but was cut. You can see Gunn's full tweets down below:
Gunn also mentioned there's a chance some of the unused songs on the playlist could be used for Vol. 3. Either way, the Awesome Mix is well-stocked for those looking for new tunes to listen to, especially when one adds the soundtracks from Vol. 1 and 2. It's not a proper Awesome Mix without Blue Swede, after all.
Gunn recently delved back into Guardians of the Galaxy while participating in a live watch party. During said watch party, Gunn teased the importance of Rocket's backstory and a secret Easter egg that has yet to be fully discovered. As fans await Vol. 3, they can revisit the previous two installments and fall in love with the Guardians all over again. At the very least, they're worth a rewatch for the soundtracks alone.
