Developer Eidos-Montréal reveals PS 5 consoles are still hard to find, though that difficulty might be easing soon. Revealed at the E3 2021 Square Enix Presents showcase, the Marvel superhero game received a deep-dive segment during the publisher’s show. Guardians of the Galaxy is set to offer a single-player only experience, letting players take control of the Guardians as Star-Lord, the leader of the ragtag team.

With such a lengthy announcement at comics-inspired skins for the Guardians. The game’s Twitter is also actively responding to fans' questions about the Marvel game, giving players good updates about some fan-friendly features.

In a response to Twitter Chun2d2, the official Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Twitter confirmed that PlayStation 4 owners of the Marvel game can the PlayStation 5 version of the game for free. The digital PlayStation 4 version includes the PlayStation 5 upgrade, while buyers of physical PS4 copies can still upgrade their copies to the PS5 version.

With this update, Guardians of the Galaxy follows a trend set by several cross-generational games. Several games like  will have no microtransactions. It’s possible that Xbox s will receive a similar treatment, but Eidos-Montréal hasn’t yet clarified an upgrade path on Microsoft’s ecosystem.

This is a great update for PlayStation 4 players hoping to receive a free upgrade once they get their hands on Sony’s current-gen console. Supply of PlayStation 5 units are incredibly scarce at the moment, causing anxiety for players who hope to eventually own games on the new system. Many games have followed this trend in recent months, allowing players to upgrade their game copy at no additional cost. Marvel fans can rest easy knowing they will be able to easily upgrade their PlayStation 4 copy to the PlayStation 5 once they secure their console.
