Warning: Contains Spoilers for Guardians of the Galaxy #3!The newest weapon in Star-Lord's arsenal is officially a Death Star-level threat in the latest the Pocket Battlefield to take on Marvel's gods. The recent Guardians video game also saw his guns double as elemental devices that can manipulate the environment and easily annihilate enemies. However, a brand-new weapon has been revealed to be in Star-Lord's possession that could change the game for Marvel cosmic warfare.

In Guardians of the Galaxy #3 by Collin Kelly, Jackson Lanzing and Kev Walker, Star-Lord s a hunting party on a world that's been overtaken by Groot's new killer Grootfall form. There, he learns that these hunters are actually killing newly-formed wildlife created by his former friend before ultimately destroying the Groot that resides there. While the Flora Colossus isn't dead because he's just one of thousands thanks to a hive mind, it still irks Star-Lord to see the hunters destroy his friend without remorse. As payback, he takes what appears to be a small weapon and absolutely annihilates their ship with one blast. The tremendous explosion shows that there's a lot of firepower behind this device that could easily cause massive damage if it fell into the wrong hands.

Star-Lord's New Gun Could Destroy Worlds

Star Lord's New Death Star-Level Gun

While Peter doesn't necessarily use this gun to blow up a planet, the scale of this weapon's destructive capability is potentially endless. Just one that shows an explosion essentially shred the hunter party's ship is enough to suggest that Star-Lord is pretty much carrying Star Wars' Death Star in his pocket. This device could ultimately lay waste to villains such as Ego the Living Planet or even Galactus if it's as strong as it's hinted to be here.

Star-Lord Could Use This Weapon to Stop Grootfall

Star Lord vs. Grootfall

What's really fascinating about this new device in Star-Lord's arsenal is that it could be used to put a stop to Grootfall once and for all. The destruction it packs within could be powerful enough to stop his former friend before he overpowers the galaxy. However, Quill clearly chooses not to use it this way, as he still has hope that Groot can be saved. This was his friend after all, and he wants to ensure that he can save him before employing the nuclear option and destroying him once and for all. Plus, with Rocket Raccoon expected to face off against the Guardians soon, he could find a method to stop Grootfall with the help of the fifth Guardians member without having to pull out the Hail Mary alternative.

No matter what becomes of Groot, it's still a shock to see Star-Lord carry a device that's so powerful. This weapon that one of the hunters considers a "peashooter" is incredibly deceptive since it can cause a ridiculously large explosion with deadly potential. Star-Lord's new mini Death Star has essentially changed the game for Marvel warfare, and the possibilities of what it could do are enough to make Guardians of the Galaxy fans worry about what it could mean for the Marvel Universe as a whole.
