Building off of the original Hades' extensive pathways to the final boss, Hades 2 offers players an entirely new pathway to explore alongside the Underworld; in this new world, you'll also find new resources like Bronze. Bronze is just one of many new things introduced on the path to Olympus, but it is one of the first surface materials you'll want to look out for. Make sure you have the Crescent Pick unlocked before heading out!
Depending on your skill level and material-gathering prowess, the surface is unlocked a few hours into the game. At the beginning, one of Hecate's wards blocks the path to the surface in Hades 2 but can be dispelled by completing the right incantation at the Cauldron in the Crossroads. Once players have gathered all the right ingredients, they can answer the Olympians' call for aid and head above ground.

Hades 2: How To Find (& Beat) Eris, Strife Incarnate (Boss Fight)
Eris, Strife Incarnate, is a boss on the Surface in Hades 2 who stands in your path as a powerful opponent almost as difficult to beat as Chronos.
Where To Find Bronze In Hades 2
As mentioned above, Bronze can only be found on the surface in Hades 2. This means you'll have to complete quite a few Underworld runs before you'll have the materials needed to unlock the wards, but once you do, you will be able to head up. The spell to unlock the wards will be unlocked after you beat Hecate for the first time.
To complete the Permeation of Witching Wards Incantation, you'll need the following:
Material |
Amount |
Location |
---|---|---|
Cinder |
1 |
Beat Hecate |
Moly |
3 |
Randomly found in most parts of Erebus. |
Shadow |
1 |
Alchemy recipe learned from Chaos. Requires 30 Psyche, 30 Ash, and 3 Fate Fabric. |
Cinder and Moly in Hades 2 are both relatively simple to acquire, but Shadow is a bit trickier. To unlock it, head through the Chaos Gates that occasionally spawn on your path into the Underworld.
Eventually, the recipe for Shadow will appear in another tab of the Cauldron, allowing you to craft the last piece needed to survive on the surface. Once you arrive on the surface, keep an eye out for piles of bronze armor, which can be mined using the Crescent Pick for three Bronze.
How To Farm Bronze In Hades 2
Best Farming Techniques
Bronze is another resource that spawns randomly on the surface, so there's no surefire way to guarantee you'll run into it. That being said, shorter runs on the surface will be the most efficient way to quickly gather all the Bronze you need for the various spells.
Once you've cleared everything before the Polyphemus fight, feel free to die and head back to the Crossroads. After beating Polyphemus, you'll head further forward, but bronze spawns less in the locations after this fight, so you might as well head back and start again.
While Bronze and Silver in Hades 2 can be tricky to find, a couple of runs through the surface and the city of Ephrya should provide you with a tidy stack. Make sure to fully clear all the rooms you enter in Ephrya, as these rooms are pretty easy and offer many opportunities to get Bronze.
As one of the new resources that Hades 2 has to offer, Bronze is an elusive material, but following the path laid out above will keep your pockets full without wasting any of your time.
