A fan recently pondered what DOOM Eternal OST apparently suffered due to the limited involvement of composer Mick Gordon in the mixing process. Still, there's nothing else quite like it on the market, especially not in video games.
And the same is true of the tunes backing Hades' underworld of chaos. Composer Darren Korb helmed the Hades soundtrack, as he's done for all of Supergiant Games' past projects - Bastion and hopeful DLC release for Hades, post-launch content seems out of the question.
Musician and YouTuber DarrenPlaysGuitar set about sending the Hades soundtrack straight to hell, so to speak. In so doing, he remixed three tracks from the OST to sound as though they were created for DOOM Eternal. Naturally, this was no easy task. In the video featuring the remixed work (via VG247), Darren chronicled his process, noting that he first began by researching both Darren Korb and Mick Gordon, as well their respective music-making processes. It's fascinating stuff, and well worth a watch of the video's first seven minutes. Darren's remix sounds like the perfect mix of the two soundtracks, thanks to the pleasing arrangement of Hades' music and the hard-hitting style that makes Gordon's work with DOOM so memorable. Unfortunately, DOOM itself won't have Mick Gordon in its corner in the future, since id Software has confirmed Gordon is no longer attached to DOOM. Fan projects like this are sure to keep Gordon's incredible work with franchise alive for many years to come, however.
What Korb and the crew at Supergiant Games may be cooking up next is a mystery all its own. Right now, Xbox players are hoping for an eventual port on their respective consoles. Whether or not such a release will ever see the light of day presently remains to be seen.
Hades is out now on Nintendo Switch and PC; meanwhile, DOOM Eternal is available on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One platforms.
