different timelines and continuities, making Laurie Strode’s journey a little convoluted. After she barely survived Michael Myers unprovoked attack in the original Halloween, it was revealed in 1981’s Halloween II that she’s actually his sister, and that’s the reason she was being targeted.

Laurie Strode is finally killed by Michael in the opening sequence.

That seemed to permanently rule out Jamie Lee Curtis returning to the series, but she stepped back into Laurie’s shoes for Halloween 2018. This entry ignored every previous movie except the original and found a badly traumatized Laurie defending her daughter and granddaughter when Michael returns for another rampage. The movie was a huge hit for Blumhouse so a sequel is all but guaranteed. However, in a new conversation with EW, Curtis its she hasn’t heard anything about one:

I have no idea at this point, today, I have no idea. I would make an assumption that if David Gordon Green has a story to tell, that the people involved with the movie would encourage him to tell it. [Laughs] I haven’t been told whether or not he has a story to tell and whether or not he would include Laurie Strode in the telling. Really, time will tell. I know David is a busy guy.

That said, she’d be more than willing to reprise the role if asked, even if it means Laurie isn’t the focus of the story:

I’d be happy to do it, sure. This was an extraordinary experience. David was a fantastic director, writer, but obviously this 2018, 40th anniversary, was Laurie’s story, and obviously, there are now other people’s stories that would need to get told. But Laurie’s story was told beautifully this year, and I would have no way of knowing how they would incorporate her into future.

Halloween 2018 leaves the fates of both Laurie and Michael somewhat ambiguous, so a sequel could reveal Laurie died offscreen from her injuries. That said, fans would definitely prefer to see her return for another sequel, and it sounds like Curtis would jump at the chance to work with director David Gordon Green again. She also suggests the story would shift focus to Laurie’s granddaughter Allyson, meaning she would likely play more of a ing role in a potential sequel.

The success of Halloween 2018 has also kicked off a revival of other classic slasher icons. It was recently announced Jordan Peele would produce a spiritual sequel toA Nightmare On Elm Street.
