far-fetched Xbox Series X launch speculation is true, it probably won’t be coming out for another four months.
Halo Infinite has been the next-gen Xbox title that fans are most eager to learn more about up to this point. The next entry in the venerable franchise is surrounded by rumors, with Halo Infinite is intended to be a launch pad for 10 years of content in the series, according to 343 Industries’ studio director.
Even with all the hype surrounding Halo Infinite, and its being part of one of the most recognizable gaming franchises ever, it seems that Microsoft is doing everything it can to get the word out about its flagship next-gen title. That’s as good an explanation as there’s ever likely to be about why there’s a Halo Infinite tie-in can of Monster Energy now making the rounds. Twitter HaloCollector posted an image of the can, with credit to someone named Derick Hunter on Facebook. Apparently purchasing one of these promotional cans will net the buyer double XP in Halo Infinite, assuming they hold on to their receipt until the end of the year when the game will presumably be out.
Of course, the Halo Infinite can isn’t the only time Monster Energy has appeared in a baffling video game tie-in recently. In one of the stranger parts of an altogether odd game, Death Stranding prominently featured Monster Energy in-game, with its protagonist using the drink as his primary source of hydration in the post-apocalyptic wasteland he inhabits. Dire times, indeed.
Video game product tie-ins are nothing new, and frankly there are stranger products that Halo Infinite could have partnered with than Monster Energy. Still, it’s surprising to see a crossover with a game that doesn’t even have a release date yet, especially one that asks players to hold on to their trash for a few months until it comes out to claim their reward.
