343 Industries has detailed some of the new features in recent gameplay screenshots showing off the work done by the developer so far.
One area of Halo Infinite that 343 has yet to show off, however, is multiplayer. Developer 343 and publisher Microsoft have both been unusually quiet about what can be expected of the series' flagship mode. However, it was announced in September of last year that Pierre Hintze was taking charge of the multiplayer portion of Halo Infinite. The developer had previously led Halo: The Master Chief Collection from September 2018 and was credited with turning around the game.
In a lengthy video posted to YouTube, modify enemy behavior. For example, Grunts will be more likely to be sleeping and players will "end up seeing more patrols of [Phantom dropships] moving through the space with searchlights" actively hunting them.
Mulkey also revealed that this day/night cycle can also lead to short eclipses. Because the Zeta Halo ring is rendered completely in 3D, when the sun es behind the structure the environment will be shrouded in darkness as the light is blocked. Meanwhile, a dynamic weather system will mean that the wind can change significantly from moment to moment and fog can quickly obscure the area. The game will also include new biomes, such as swamp-like wetlands and more.
Last week, hints emerged online that Halo Infinite would feature a creature that was last seen in Halo: Reach. A collaboration between Microsoft, Pringles, and Walmart has led to the creation of Moa Burger Pringles. The flavor refers to an ostrich-like animal that was previously featured in the earlier game. The fact that it is being referenced now led some to believe it will show up in the new release later this year.
The more that surfaces about Halo Infinite, the more reassuring its possible quality seems. The game has clearly had a very troubled development so far, but it now appears as though 343 is back on track and that the shooter is shaping up to be a likely highlight of 2021.
Halo Infinite will be available for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC in Fall 2021.
