is still in development after several delays, Xbox is already planning for the future with what appears to be a spin-off title, although the details of which are still unknown.
There have been rumors about a Halo spin-off that follows Fireteam Osiris from Halo 5: Guardians, however, there is not much to these rumors (at least at the time of writing). Obviously, the Halo series is no stranger to spin-offs; some of the more the Arbiter, one of the Halo series' most memorable characters, came from missions that took the focus off of Master Chief, Xbox has largely been unwilling to stray from its most iconic character.
Per a Microsoft job posting, it appears that 343 Industries could finally be venturing into the Halo universe, sans Chief. The company posted a job opening for a producer, "to help develop a new project in the Halo universe." The producer will be responsible for facilitating work between different departments and making sure that deadlines are met, which indicates that this new Halo project is very early in its development.
The job posting goes on to list that the producer needs to, "have experience shipping AAA current generation games," which could be a result of Halo Infinite's turbulent development, which has seen multiple directors come and go for a variety of reasons. There are no details in the job posting about the actual content of the game but, whatever this project ends up being, it will definitely have a large budget behind it, and Xbox will have a lot riding on its success.
Despite the turnover and delays, Xbox maintains that it is not worried about Halo Infinite. The game is slated to launch in the fall of this year (barring further delays), so it makes sense that Xbox would already be planning for its next title, as game development cycles have only gotten longer in recent years. Fans should not expect to hear anything about this project for some time, as Xbox will be focusing on shipping and ing Halo Infinite for the immediate future while this spin-off project is early in development.
