James Gunn's animated cameo might continue into the next season of Other DC Villain Movies James Gunn Could Do After Suicide SquadWhile celebrating Harley Quinn's season 4 renewal, Gunn responded to the question about a potential sequel to his Thomas Wayne biopic via Twitter. His brief, funny reply indicates that he is definitely down to return to the series. See the thread below:
It's no surprise that Gunn would be willing to return to the Harley-Verse. A fan of the DC character, he worked with Harley Quinn previously when Margot Robbie returned to the role in 2021's The Suicide Squad. According to producers, Gunn conducted his remote recording sessions for Harley Quinn while shooting Suicide Squad spin-off Peacemaker, which just goes to show his commitment to the part. Though Gunn's reply is joking in nature, it wouldn't be a surprise to see Harley Quinn season 4 take on some meta jokes about cinematic sequels, which would open things up for Gunn to return and create an in-universe sequel.
Harley Quinn season 3 is set to end on September 15. Luckily, season 4 has already been renewed, so audiences don't have to worry about the future of the popular series. Whether Gunn returns for the next season, his Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, will release on May 23, 2023. Even though he is hard at work on Peacemaker season 2 and other DC projects, it seems entirely possible that he could carve out some time for another hilarious cameo.
