The celebrity Harley Quinn dreams of marrying is so unexpected, no fan would ever see it coming. Since her turn to being an antihero, Harley Quinn's love life has been one of the most interesting aspects of her character. However, while her most famous (successful) relationship to date is between her and Poison Ivy, she secretly has a crush on the most unlikely celebrity: Gary Busey.

The story in Harley Quinn #42 by Frank Tieri and Alain Mauricet takes place during the age of Old Lady Harley in a spoof of Marvel's own Old Man Logan storyline. In this futuristic era, Harley teams up with a wide range of antiheroes in a post-apocalyptic landscape. However, true to form for her, Harley has found many love interests along the way. Red Tool, one of Harley's allies, even gives a long list of people who have been married to her in the past.

There's an interesting lineup of DC heroes and villains who have stood at the altar with her, but the most surprising former spouse is none other than the head of Gary Busey.

In One Possible Future, Harley Quinn Marries... Gary Busey?!

Harley Quinn and Gary Busey

Celebrity crushes aren't uncommon, even for fictional characters, but the fact that Harley's is actor Gary Busey fits incredibly well for her. Busey is known for being an incredibly over-the-top actor with his outrageous line deliveries. Since Harley has become known for her own outlandish antics in the DC Universe, the two feel like a match made in heaven. Harley likely views the two of them as a potential "chaos couple," and she clearly got her wish when she ended up marrying him in the Old Lady Harley timeline.

Busey is a man who checks all her boxes, so she's clearly willing to do away with the rest of his body if she even has a fraction of a chance to be with him.

What's even better about this unexpected romance is how she clearly went through anything to be with him at some point in her past. Red Tool confirms that she even ended up marrying his head, which is what has become of him in this timeline. To her, Busey is a man who checks all her boxes, so she's clearly willing to do away with the rest of his body if she even has a fraction of a chance to be with him. Of course, this romance clearly didn't last long given how Red Tool says he s a line of former spouses, but it's nice to see that Harley did get her wish at some point.

Harley Quinn's Marriage History Is the Ultimate "Dis" to the Joker

She Would Marry Gary Busey Before Going Back to Him

The biggest takeaway from this marriage reveal is how much it completely humiliates the Joker - long after Harley left him. Harley's past with the Joker is infamous for being incredibly damaging and abusive. So, it's incredibly funny to see that after years of being away from him, Harley found a happier life being with anyone but the Joker. Her list of exes in this timeline includes Poison Ivy, Nightwing, Red Tool, Catwoman, Killer Croc and, of course, the head of Gary Busey. There's no way that Harley would ever endure that type of abusive romance again, so her marrying all these characters is the perfect attack on her past with the Joker.

As two of DC’s most iconic villains, Harley Quinn and the Joker have appeared in numerous Elseworlds tales, each time receiving a wild redesign.

Out of all the celebrities to crush on, it's surprising to see Gary Busey at the top of Harley's list. It's certainly not an impossible pairing, because the two would potentially be compatible personality-wise. However, given Busey's problematic past, there's likely a reason why the two are no longer married. Still, it's a celebrity crush that Harley Quinn fans likely never expected from her.
