Warning! Spoilers ahead for Harley Quinn #28!The latest threat to the DC Universe has just been revealed, and it comes in the form of Harley Quinn's bizarre new upgrade. An accidental discovery from Harley could be putting the multiverse at risk.
In Harley Quinn #28 by Tini Howard and Sweeney Boo, Harley finds herself in a war with Two-Face. Harley isn't sweating it, but unfortunately, the ongoing battle leads to Harley getting arrested. Instead of jail time, Harley is sentenced to community service and made to teach at Gotham City Community College. But on Harley's first day, her class is interrupted by Two-Face, leading to a fight where Harley discovers she has a brand-new power.
To Harley's surprise, she plucks a cartoony-looking fish out of thin air and clobbers Two-Face with it. Later that evening, Harley is visited by Lady Quark, a protector of the DC multiverse. Quark informs Harley that she's somehow developed the ability to breach the barriers of the multiverse and take things from other worlds. Quark warns Harley that using her powers recklessly could change other Earths for the worse. Quark departs, warning Harley that further uses of her new power will get Harley's universe exterminated.
Harley Quinn Can Now Steal Things From Across the Multiverse
Since she first appeared, Harley Quinn has been a relatively grounded character and isn't exactly one for superpowers. She is quite skilled acrobatically and is good at hand-to-hand combat (not to mention she knows how to swing a mallet). And Harley is also great at reading people due to her professional background as a psychiatrist. Harley even has protections against poisons after her girlfriend, Poison Ivy, immunized her to a host of insidious toxins. But other than that, Harley's never really had 'powers' in the same way that Superman or Wonder Woman do.
But somehow, Harley has gained the tremendously helpful power of snatching things from other worlds. This is a pretty awesome power, as the DC multiverse is a vast place, and she could steal plenty of goodies from neighboring Earths. She could easily grab a sword from Earth-118, the home of Dark Knights of Steel, or some advanced tech from the Batman Beyond world of Earth-12. But Harley's new power is a double-edged sword. If she uses it, Harley could drastically affect the histories of other worlds or get her own destroyed.
Harley's New Power is Putting the DC Universe in Danger
Lady Quark may have warned Harley of the consequences of her new power, but unfortunately, Harley isn't even sure how she did it in the first place. Odds are she'll figure it out, but will Harley resist the temptation of plundering weapons and treasures from other universes? Fans know that Harley isn't above stealing a bauble or two when she fancies it. She also may find herself in a situation where she'll have no choice but to pluck a weapon from a parallel Earth. It's a cool power Harley has now, but the risk might not outweigh the reward. Fans can check out Harley's new skill in Harley Quinn #28, on sale now.
