The second movie in the The Sorcerer's Stone. This time, The Boy Who Lived had to contend with accusations of being the Heir of Slytherin as a mysterious presence works its way through Hogwarts, attacking muggle-borns with alarming regularity. Fortunately, in the end, he's able to get to the bottom of the matter and defeat villain Tom Riddle from rising against Lord Voldemort.
But who were the most prominent characters and who got barely any screentime at all? We'll now take a look.
Most: Harry Potter (83:45)
Naturally, and in news that won't come as a surprise to anybody, Harry himself gets the most on-screen attention out of all the characters involved. Daniel Radcliffe's younger face can be seen for 83 minutes and 45 seconds, which is a whole 11 minutes more than he had in The Sorcerer's Stone.
Harry starts the movie off at Number 4 Private Drive before being rescued by the Weasleys. He experiences a turbulent year at Hogwarts, at one point being the main suspect as muggle-borns across the castle were attacked, but is able to reign supreme in the end. He, alone in the Chamber, prevent Lord Voldemort from returning to full power.
Least: Lee Jordan (:15)
Lee Jordan appears in only the first two Harry Potter movies, despite being a close friend of Fred and George Weasley in the source material. He's Quidditch commentator, giving fans the lowdown on the epic showdown between Gryffindor and Slytherin.
But he's only in the movie for 15 seconds. He was certainly underused when it came to the movies and that's a shame, given how amusing his relationship with Fred and George is in the source material.
Most: Ron Weasley (38:15)
Ron pops up early in the Chamber of Secrets when he, Fred, and George come to rescue Harry from the Dursleys. And he sticks closely to his friend's side throughout the movie, even going with the Boy Who Lived and Gilderoy Lockhart when they enter the Chamber itself.
With 38 minutes and 15 seconds of screentime, Ron gets 10 minutes more action than he did in the Sorcerer's Stone. Perhaps his highlight is when he and Harry enter the Forbidden Forest to confront Aragog, despite Rupert Grint's character's huge fear of spiders. To be fair, we'd be similarly terrified facing that hairy beast.
Least: Filius Flitwick (:15)
Filius Flitwick is the Hogwarts professor who teaches Harry, Ron, and Hermione the Wingardium Leviosa spell during the first movie. With his small frame and squeaky voice, he became an instant fan favorite. However, disappointingly, he barely appears in the sequel.
This is the same in the source material, with Flitwick taking a back seat. It is established that he was once a Duelling champion but this isn't mentioned in the movie. Fortunately, he returns to the fold in 2004's Prisoner of Azkaban.
Most: Hermione Granger (15:30)
Hermione Granger's lack of screentime is somewhat surprising in the Chamber of Secrets. Emma Watson's character spends just 15 minutes and 30 seconds on screen. But, in fairness, the fact that Hermione is attacked by the Basilisk may have contributed to that.
Hermione is petrified towards the end of the blockbuster, meaning she's unable to accompany Harry and Ron when they enter the Chamber to confront the horror within. Touchingly, though, she's back to her usual self by the end of the film and s in the celebrations following Rubeus Hagrid's release from the vile Azkaban prison.
Least: Scabbers, Katie Bell, Alicia Spinnet, Angelina Johnson (:30)
Four characters who get just 30 seconds of screentime in the second movie of the Potter series are Scabbers, Katie Bell, Alicia Spinnet, and Angelina Johnson.
Bell, Spinnet, and Johnson are all of the Gryffindor Quidditch team and appear during their house's showdown with Slytherin, which is won by Harry when he narrowly beats Draco Malfoy to the Golden Snitch. Scabbers, meanwhile, is only visible when he's with Ron - who seems to forget he owns a rat throughout most of the title.
Most: Albus Dumbledore (10:45)
Albus Dumbledore actually loses his job as Hogwarts Heaster in this movie. He's ruthlessly sacked by governor Lucius Malfoy at a time where the attacks within the castle are spiraling out of control. Minerva McGonagall is then placed in temporary charge but the situation doesn't get any better.
Although he's sacked, Dumbledore gets the fourth-highest screentime. He appears for 10 minutes and 45 seconds and rewards both Harry and Ron after they rescue Ginny Weasley from Tom Riddle. The Hogwarts legend also starts the joyous celebrations at the end of the movie after Hagrid's return from Azkaban.
Least: The Sorting Hat, Nearly Headless Nick, Justin Finch-Fletchley (:45)
Both Nearly Headless Nick and Justin Finch-Fletchley are attacked by the Basilisk, with Harry stumbling across their frozen bodies. He fears he'll be blamed but Albus Dumbledore provides his - as all school heasters should.
The Sorting Hat, meanwhile, appears fleetingly to mischievously suggest to Harry that he'd put him in the wrong house, having contemplated putting him into Slytherin. The Boy Who Lived offers a defiant response to this, insisting the object was 'wrong' in a confident manner.
Most: Gilderoy Lockhart (10:30)
Harry gets a new Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher after his previous one, Professor Quirrell, had sided with Lord Voldemort and died the previous year. Gilderoy Lockhart then takes on the role with many across the wizarding world considering him to be a gifted individual - especially when it comes to fighting the dark arts.
That isn't the case, though. Lockhart turns out to be a liar, somebody who claims credit for the hard work of others, and attempts to wipe the memories of Harry and Ron when they uncover his secret. Luckily, his attempt fails and it leaves him having to spend the rest of his days in St Mungo's Hospital.
Least: Marcus Flint, Aragog, Seamus Finnigan, Dean Thomas
Seamus Finnigan and Dean Thomas are both Gryffindor students and can often be seen talking to each other on the house benches while Harry, Ron, and Hermione plan away in the center of the shot.
Marcus Flint pops up as Slytherin captain in the Quidditch match, while Aragog spends a minute talking with Harry and Ron in the Forbidden Forest. He then turns on the two pupils and instructs his species to devour them but, thanks to some help from Arthur Weasley's old Ford Anglia, they're able to get away.
