The actress says it would really fun, while also pointing out the original cast's roles wouldn't be that big, though she has no idea whether a screen adaptation will actually happen. Read her full comments below:
The biggest question everyone wants to know is if they are going to be making a TV/film version of it. I don't know. It would be pretty fun because it's really about the children. It's not about our characters, so it wouldn't be a massive role. It would really be about these kids and the new generation. It would be fun, but I have no idea if they'll do it.
Could A Harry Potter & The Cursed Child Movie Actually Happen?
Since the film series seemingly ended in 2011, there has been massive interest in a Cursed Child movie since it would bring back original stars, including the Golden Trio of Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint as Harry, Hermione, and Ron. However, Wright is correct to point out that their roles wouldn't be that large. The stage play co-written by Rowling is set nineteen years after the events of Deathly Hallows and mainly focuses on Harry and Ginny's son Albus and Draco's son Scorpius as they embark on a time-traveling adventure during their first year at Hogwarts.
Chris Columbus, who directed two Harry Potter films, was one of the first to express interest in a Cursed Child movie, saying the return of the original trio would be "cinematic bliss" equivalent to Star Wars legacy characters returning for Force Awakens. Unfortunately, Radcliffe shot down the idea of a Cursed Child movie, saying it's not something he's interested in doing now, but could be years later. Radcliffe is one essential element required for a Harry Potter and the Cursed Child movie, so without a commitment from the actor, there are no concrete plans for an adaptation at this time.
