Although there are no Harry Potter and the Cursed Child movie adaptation a lot more likely now. Back in 1997, J.K. Rowling introduced readers to the Wizarding World in the novel Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, the first in a series of seven books chronicling the story of the title character and Lord Voldemort. The popularity of the Harry Potter book series led to its adaptation to film, and so the Harry Potter saga was released between 2001 and 2011, with the seventh novel, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, split into two movies.
The Harry Potter movie saga was the beginning of a media franchise that is now formed by video games, supplementary books, a theme park, a stage play, and the Fantastic Beasts movie trilogy, though the latter has brought a couple of problems. The Fantastic Beasts trilogy has been inconsistent, overshadowed by behind-the-scenes controversies, and sits at the bottom of the box office list of Wizarding World movies. As a result, Warner Bros. isn’t moving forward with Fantastic Beasts 4 (for now, at least), but the studio has expressed interest in doing more “Harry Potter movies”, and if that’s the case, a film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child could finally happen.
Harry Potter & The Cursed Child Movie Makes A Lot Of Sense For WB
During the company’s earnings meeting, Warner Bros.’ Discovery CEO David Zaslav shared they’re interested in doing “something with J.K. on Harry Potter going forward” and even mentioned that they “haven’t done a Harry Potter movie in 15 years”, completely ignoring the Fantastic Beasts movies. Warner Bros. might be more interested in bringing back the Harry Potter franchise with a project that includes the famous wizard rather than one that, even though expands this universe, doesn’t include him, like the Fantastic Beasts branch. The best step in that direction, then, would be a movie adaptation of the play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was written by Jack Thorne from a story by Rowling, John Tiffany, and Thorne, and it’s set 19 years after the events of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. It follows Harry’s son, Albus Severus Potter, during his time at Hogwarts, where he gets into trouble after messing with a Time-Turner – meanwhile, Harry is the Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement at the Ministry of Magic. Albus’ actions unveil some dangerous secrets that end up bringing Harry, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, and Draco Malfoy together one more time. Cursed Child, then, is a proper continuation to the Harry Potter saga that doesn’t follow the same characters, yet they are still involved, and the main characters are directly linked to them.
Would Harry Potter & The Cursed Child Make A Good Movie?
Now, although a Curse Child movie would make a lot of sense if Warner Bros. wants to continue expanding the Wizarding World with “Harry Potter movies”, the story would need major changes in order to make a good movie. Cursed Child has been heavily criticized for its story, as it doesn’t feel like part of the Harry Potter universe, breaking canon from time to time, recycling storylines (as is the Time-Turned one), and it has even been compared to works of fan-fiction. would have to go through a massive revision and rewrite in order to work as a movie, and most of all, as a Harry Potter movie than can be a proper continuation of the stories of some of the Wizarding World’s most beloved characters.
