Does their courage and nerve make them a Gryffindor or are they more driven by ambition and power, earning a Slytherin spot? Perhaps they are patient and value hard-work like a Hufflepuff or creative and always in pursuit of knowledge like a Ravenclaw. Let’s take a look at 10 Scandal characters sorted into their Hogwarts houses!

Eli Pope - Ravenclaw

Joe Morton as Rowan Eli Pope on Scandal

Oliva’s father is a man of many names. The one that likely comes to the mind of fans first is “Command” as he served as the leader of B613 for many years. While his drive and power may initially cause one to think he’s a Slytherin, upon further inspection it is clear that Eli is primarily driven by his pursuit of knowledge. He is fascinated with the inner workings of the world and regularly draws comparisons between human psychology and the behavior of wild animals.  His cover as a curator of antiquities at the Smithsonian and his Princeton education prove that Eli has always been an intellectual. Combine his intellect and with his calm detail-oriented nature and it’s clear to see why Eli is a Ravenclaw.

David Rosen – Hufflepuff

David Rosen is arguably the most moral character in Scandal. He is kind, hardworking, and patient. He believes in the system and is hesitant to cut corners, even for “the greater good”. David is also extremely loyal, serving as a close friend to many characters. His values are consistent and always at the forefront of his decision making as he isn’t willing to turn a blind eye to injustice, even when encouraged to do so by his closest friends. It is clear that David embodies all of the core characteristics of a Hufflepuff.

Mellie Grant – Slytherin

Mellie is a character fans grew to love. As the series goes on, her backstory is revealed, showing Mellie working hard and sacrificing to get to the top. It is revealed that much of Fitz’s success is due to Mellie’s determination, charisma, and ambition.

When put in positions where her power is threatened or taken away, Mellie remains resilient. She is willing to go to great lengths to get what she wants, even if manipulation and foul play is necessary. A cunning individual, she eventually triumphs, proving she is a true Slytherin.

Abby Whelan – Ravenclaw

Abby goes through many transformations throughout the show. In every position she holds, she is always outspoken, sharp-minded, logical, and detail-oriented. She often emerges as the voice of reason, remaining calm under pressure and demonstrating her wisdom. She acknowledges and appreciates the individuality of the people in her life, welcoming some of their more eccentric traits. As Abby is a bit opinionated, she can often come off as a snob, proving that this clever character embodies not only the positive traits of a Ravenclaw, but some of their negative characteristics as well.

Jake Ballard – Gryffindor

Jake has continuously devoted himself to his country. He sees himself as a protector and hero which results in an air of arrogance. Jake is a chivalrous character and always acts in service to the greater good, rarely putting his own needs above the needs of his country. He remains stoic, valiant, and determined in the face of hardship. He isn’t afraid to break some rules to protect those he cares about and frequently engages in reckless behavior that Snape would deem “pointless heroics”. For all of these reasons and more, Jake Ballard is a Gryffindor!

Cyrus Beene – Slytherin

Cryus is the most power-hungry individual in Scandal. He makes it clear from the beginning of the series that he believes he deserves to be president but feels that America wouldn’t elect him, so he chooses to attach himself to a candidate he feels is electable and easily manipulated.

While Fitz is the figurehead, Cyrus controls many of his decisions behind the scenes and is desperate to protect this power at all costs. Cyrus makes many questionable decisions throughout the series, which culminates in him killing one of his closest peers in order to protect his reputation and career. His ambition, determination, prowess, and willingness to manipulate cement this cunning character as a Slytherin.

Huck – Ravenclaw

When most people think of Huck, they think of his relationship with Quinn or the torture he resorts to to accomplish his missions.  Many overlook Huck’s intelligence. Huck is a highly trained operative and a masterful hacker. He is detail-oriented, clever, logical, and calm in difficult situations. His creativity manifests in the way he obtains information, employing various techniques he has developed. Although some of his interests may be dark, he seems to enjoy his pursuit of knowledge and is naturally curious. All of these traits combined solidify Huck as a Ravenclaw.

Fitz Grant – Hufflepuff

Fitz is a classic example of a Hufflepuff. He is stubborn, open-minded, and values honesty and hard work. His pursuit of the presidency is entirely driven by his motivation to give back and help others. Although Fitz’s path to the White House included foul play, this foul play was done without Fitz’s knowledge.  When he learns of the corruption that led to his leadership, he is appalled. Fitz values his connection with Olivia above all. He even goes as far as complying with the demands of a terrorist to save Olivia’s life.  Upon being placed on his head, the sorting hat would immediately place Fitz in Hufflepuff.

Quinn Perkins – Gryffindor

Quinn looking serious in Scandal

Quinn is a righteous character.  While many of the characters abandon the idea of “the white hat” somewhere along the series, Quinn remains ionate about doing the right thing for the greater good.  Originally a more reserved character, Quinn grows to be daring, courageous, and brave.  Her confidence is unwavering as she takes on ever changing tasks, eager to dive into situations behind her training even when it is reckless to do so.  She can be impatient and short-tempered on her quest but it is this will to move forward that solidifies her as a Gryffindor.

Olivia Pope – Slytherin

Olivia Pope is proud of her reputation.  She wants her successes to be acknowledged and is determined to prove herself to those around her.  Her high-profile clients hire her because they know she is talented, cunning and able to succeed in many situations where those around her would fail.  Her ambition knows no ends and fans are able to watch her continuously gain more power.  Olivia will stop at no end to accomplish the goals she sets, and that is why the sorting hat would place her in Slytherin.
