Harry Potter's world of magic was brought to the cinema way back in 2001, with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Since then, the franchise has conjured up quite the following among fans and critics alike. Based on a series of books written by J. K. Rowling, Harry Potter has now become a household name.
Most of Harry Potter's success can be attributed to the diverse characters, absorbing storylines, and an imposing antagonist, but what makes this franchise so different are the animations and the unique cinematography. Some scenes in the movies are downright iconic, to the point where it is difficult to forget them. It's difficult to pick out which are the most memorable, but these scenes definitely live rent-free in the minds of fans.
Gryffindor
The scene where Harry Potter enters Hogwarts for the first time is a very important one. The way all the professors' facial expressions change when he is introduced gives the fans an idea of how famous his name is in the magic world.
The Sorting Hat's description of Potter is another magnificent scene, which is full of tension and childish dreams. Harry wanted anything but Slytherin, while the Sorting Hat was providing reasons why Slytherin would be perfect for him. The elation on Harry's face when he was sorted into the house of Gryffindor was wonderful to see.
The Patronus Charm
Expecto Patronum is a spell used to keep Dementors away, and Harry learned it from Professor Lupin in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Slowly but surely, it became one of the most iconic and most used magical charms in the history of the franchise.
The power of the Patronus Charm comes from good memories of a wizard, and when Harry needed it the most, he conjured it up in the form of a stag. It was an iconic scene that underlined Harry's similarity to his father.
Sirius Black Reveals Himself
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban helped Harry distinguish his allies from his enemies. Some big lies about Sirius Black - Harry's godfather - were being fed to him, and when they eventually met each other, the tension in the environment was there for everyone to see.
Harry had little time to trust Sirius, who blamed Peter Pettigrew for betraying Lily and James Potter. Remus Lupin backed Sirius, and that may be what convinced Harry. He ended up attacking Snape, which made the scene even more volatile.
Voldemort Is Back
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire teased the return of the Dark Lord very early on, with Harry experiencing a vivid dream about Voldemort. In Sirius Black's words, Hogwarts wasn't safe anymore.
The Triwizard Tournament proved to be the perfect opportunity for Voldemort to get Harry by himself, and he did. Using the blood of the Chosen One, Voldemort was reborn, and it was a devastating sight. His eyes, his smile, his words, and his fight with Harry was something the fans were waiting and dreading to see.
Deathly Hallows
The story of the Deathly Hallows and the way it was told, using subtle animations, was something unique that viewers loved.
Symbolism has always been a huge part of the Harry Potter franchise and the three brothers who cheated death created something that would be ed for years on. The Elder Wand, the Cloak of Invisibility, and the Resurrection Stone - represented by a vertical line and a circle enclosed in a triangle - form an unforgettable part of the wizarding world.
Death Of Albus Dumbledore
Albus Dumbledore was the only wizard keeping Voldemort on his toes. Because of his presence, the Dark Lord wasn't invading Hogwarts looking for Harry Potter. But all lives come to an end, and Dumbledore's death was premeditated.
Severus Snape was given the orders to kill the Heaster of Hogwarts, and Harry was told to stay out of it. The helplessness in Harry's eyes, the sound of Avada Kedavra, and a dying Dumbledore falling to the ground made for an unbelievably powerful scene.
How Dare You Stand Where He Stood
Harry, Hermoine, and Ron's hunt for Horcruxes brought them back to Hogwarts, but the place where they grew up was unrecognizable. Flooded with Death Eaters, dark corridors, and Dumbledore's killer as Heaster, Hogwarts was begging to be restored to its previous glory.
In a scene that showcased Alan Rickman's genius as Severus Snape, Harry - with the help of his allies - drew the dark forces out of Hogwarts. The euphoria was short-lived, though, as Voldemort started playing his games soon after.
Snape's Memories
Severus Snape turning out to be the ultimate protector of Harry Potter remains one of the biggest plot twists any film series has ever seen. While dying at the hands of Voldemort's Nagini, Snape told Harry to take his tears to the Pensieve.
What came next was an emotional yet brave story of a bright young wizard from Slytherin. Snape's bravery gave Harry the required motivation to go face the Dark Lord alone.
Harry Potter Is Dead
Harry Potter was a Horcrux Voldemort never meant to create. In order to defeat the Dark Lord, the part of his soul hidden inside Harry Potter had to be killed. Harry had to face the Avada Kedavra killing curse and for all the world, it looked like Harry was finally going to die at the hands of Voldemort.
And he did, for a while, at least. Bouncing with happiness, The Dark Lord and his army marched towards Hogwarts, with Harry's unmoving body in the hands of Hagrid.
The Showdown
Voldemort thought he had finally killed Harry Potter and while he was in celebratory mode, the Chosen One woke up from the dead, shocking everyone. The awaited battle between Harry and Voldemort began, with the Elder Wand refusing to answer to the Dark Lord.
After Neville Longbottom killed Nagini with the Sword of Gryffindor, all Harry had to do was overpower Voldemort with his wand. The Dark Lord soon turned into dust and Harry avenged the lives of his loved ones.
