Just like any zodiac sign or Hogwarts house, the sign of Aries and house of Slytherin share a fair amount of similarities, and have a significant number of differences as well. Any zodiac sign could fit into any Hogwarts house easily, but there are always going to be ways in which the personality styles of both groups click or clash.
So with that idea in mind, in which was do Slytherin seem to be so different that they could never mesh with one another at all?
Are: Elitist
Both those born under the sign of Aries and those who have been sorted into the house of Slytherin have extremely high expectations for themselves and others. They are capable of great achievements, so the only way to earn their respect is by reaching the highest bar that is possible to reach.
But of course, the darker side of these high expectations is that they both tend to lack respect for those who don't reach those expectations.
Are Not: Self-Preserving
Students sorted into Slytherin have a reputation for being somewhat slimy and sneaky, and they will ultimately look out for themselves above all else. The negative connotations towards this self-preservation may or may not be warranted, but they will protect themselves regardless of what anyone else thinks.
But Aries isn't like that at all. They are usually the leaders of their pack and they're known for being bold, so they will rush headlong into danger with no regard for themselves.
Are: Assertive
To be honest, many Slytherins and Aries don't just stop at being assertive, to some of the more mellow people who encounter them they can seem downright aggressive.
But the fact remains that both of them make no bones about expressing themselves and exactly how they feel, and while their diplomacy may sometimes be lacking, it's always safe to expect Aries and Slytherin to stick up for themselves.
Are Not: Prepared
If there is one thing that every Slytherin is great at, it's playing a long game when they need to. They don't need immediate satisfaction, and they will meticulously plan in order to ensure their own success.
But Aries is the kind of person who likes to learn on the fly, and who will usually plan for things as they go along. In their eyes, actually doing something as soon as possible is the best way to get it done.
Are: Self Reliant
Both Slytherin and Aries can come across as somewhat arrogant to others, but the truth is that they just don't trust anyone else as much as they trust themselves. They know what they're capable of, so they want to be the ones to do what needs to be done.
Self-reliance is actually something they're quite proud of, and they're very reluctant to ask others for help.
Are Not: Subtle
Aries signs aren't typically very crafty or good at hiding their emotions, and they usually don't even bother trying. Aries is very comfortable letting people know where they're coming from or where they're going, and there are rarely hidden motives at play when it comes to what they do.
Slytherin is obviously the exact opposite though, they really don't like to let people know their motives and they don't want anyone to see them coming.
Are: Resourceful
One of the most impressive aspects of an Aries or a Slytherin is how they can seemingly solve any problem or overcome any obstacle.
Their creative minds enable them to see angles or think of solutions that most people wouldn't be able to come up with, and they know how to use every resource they have to their advantage.
Are Not: Traditional
Most people consider Slytherins to be elitist, snotty, and sometimes downright racist or bigoted. Those might be fair accusations, but that mostly stems from the fact that they place an enormous amount of value on traditions.
Aries definitely doesn't feel the same way though, if anything they would much rather be non-traditional. They like to be trailblazers in every sense of the word, so they would much rather try something new than cleave to the old.
Are: Ambitious
The easiest way for any Slytherin and any Aries to relate to one another is through their insatiable ambition. Ambition is obviously one of the defining traits of Slytherin, and anyone who is sorted into Salazar's house is bound to have extremely lofty aims.
Aries is exactly the same, they are not restrained by anything or anyone and they don't just genuinely believe that they're capable of anything, they are actually willing to do what it takes in order to make anything happen.
Are Not: Cunning
Probably the most noticeable difference between typical Aries and typical Slytherin is cunning. Cunning is yet another foundation trait of Slytherin, and most Slytherins will do whatever they can to hide their true motives and plans from nosy outsiders.
Aries might wish that they could be cunning, but it's a trait that is impossible for them to exhibit, they wear absolutely every thought, feeling, and intention that they have on their sleeve.
