Hawkeye get his spotlight properly. While he has mostly been a ing player in the previous phases, Phase 4 will officially see Clint get the attention he deserves with his own show.
As Clint officially took on the Ronin mantle in Kate Bishop. While it was reported early on that Hailee Steinfeld would be bringing that character to life, it was only confirmed this month that she’s officially attached to Hawkeye.
But Steinfeld isn’t the only character that will be appearing in the Marvel drama, as the current roster includes a fair few Marvel favorites. More details will likely emerge as filming continues - which is how Steinfeld’s involvement was officially revealed, via set videos of her and Renner shooting scenes together, and also how a very iconic character from Clint’s mythos was confirmed too. Here is every confirmed character that has been revealed so far for Hawkeye.
Clint Barton
Of course, the most iconic character in Hawkeye is the famous Avenger Clint Barton, who was originally a high ranking S.H.I.E.L.D. agent before becoming one of Earth's mightiest heroes. Throughout his time in the MCU, fans have seen Clint be one of the more light-hearted heroes in the Avengers, right up until the game-changing war against Thanos. Avengers: Endgame and the Snap caused Clint to go down a dark, bloodthirsty path, operating for a time as the brutal vigilante Ronin. But thanks to time-travel, he and the team got a second chance to stop Thanos - albeit a chance that would come at the cost of Clint's beloved teammate Black Widow. In Hawkeye, Clint will be mentoring a new hero that will follow in his footsteps and take over the heroic title - but this doesn't mean he can't still appear in the MCU afterward.
Kate Bishop
The MCU has started introducing a lot of younger heroes from the Marvel Universe and Kate Bishop is now going to be one of them. Steinfeld, best known for her work in the Young Avengers who begins her hero journey after a traumatizing incident that will likely be explored in the live-action show.
Lucky the Pizza Dog
The Lucky the Pizza Dog. Revealed to be part of the series in set videos, Lucky was originally Ivan Banionis' dog, who is a villain in the Hawkeye mythology. Lucky - who was initially named Arrow - was shown care from Clint, and thus he turned on Ivan and ended up becoming part of Hawkeye and Kate's dynamic group. It remains to be seen if the TV show will include Lucky's disability, as he can't see with his left eye after Ivan's gang almost kills him in the comics.
Yelena Belova
While Yelena Belova will be introduced in the film, played by Florence Pugh. In the comics, Yelena does take on the Black Widow mantle, having also come from the Red Room program, and taking up the superhero title after her friend's death in Secret Empire. How she becomes part of Clint and Kate's path is unclear at this point, but it's interesting that Hawkeye will still potentially have a Black Widow, even if it's not the one he was fighting side-by-side for all these years - though this may also prove useful, as Yelena and Clint can potentially bond over their shared loss.
Echo
While #SaveDaredevil leads to the return of Charlie Cox in the MCU, perhaps Echo will even get to meet the Devil of Hell's Kitchen someday.
Kazi/Clown
It appears that Hawkeye will have more than just one villain for the first season of the Disney+ series. Another antagonist that is ing the MCU is Fra Fee's Kazi - better known by his full comic name of Kazimierz Kazimierczak - who another member of Hawkeye's rogues' gallery. Also referred to as Clown, which is a nod to his history as living in a circus family, Kazi is a deadly mercenary whose resume includes working for Kingpin and the Tracksuit Draculas. Whether or not Kazi will have his iconic Pierrot mask make-up remains to be seen, but knowing the MCU right, they'll likely find some way to incorporate that look.
Jack Duquesne
Every hero has an origin story that includes a mentor figure in one way or another and that was definitely the case for Clint too. Hawkeye will also feature Tony Dalton as Jack Duquesne, better known as Swordsman in the Marvel mythology. Going originally by Jacques Duquesne in the comics, Swordsman is the one who trains Clint how to become the powerful marksman that he's today. Throughout his time in the comics, Swordsman has been both a foe and ally to Hawkeye, giving him a complex role in Clint's life. With this addition, it will allow Hawkeye to explore Clint's life prior to his debut in Thor, and how he got to where he is today.
Eleanor Bishop
With another teenage hero being brought into the MCU, comes another parental figure as fans will be meeting Kate's mother in Hawkeye. Agent Carter season 2. So far nothing has been revealed about the MCU's take on Eleanor and whether or not she will be causing any trouble for Kate and Clint.
William Lopez
Last, but certainly not least comes a familial tie to Echo, as Hawkeye will feature one more supervillain from Marvel's roster. Zahn McClarnon will be playing the role of William Lopez, Echo's father. In the comics, William operates as Crazy Horse, and despite the hilarious name, he has a gruesome run. William was working for Kingpin until he was murdered by his own boss, who ended up putting the blame on Daredevil in order to get Echo to take the hero out. Given his addition to the show, it looks like William may be getting a bigger role in the MCU than he did in the comics.
That is the last cast member to have been revealed for Hawkeye, but only thus far. It's very likely that more characters will be revealed as production continues, whether it be through Marvel or set-photos and videos. The show is currently set to come out in 2021, but given the global pandemic, it wouldn't be shocking if it gets a 2022 release on Disney+. Given the addition of Yelena/Black Widow, it wouldn't be surprising if a few other recognizable MCU characters end up popping in for a guest spot or two throughout Hawkeye season 1.
