Warning: This article contains SPOILERS for Hawkeye, episode 3.

Evidence is building that Marvel's Kingpin as Echo's mysterious uncle. But Kingpin's debut in the main MCU timeline means other characters can be lifted from Marvel Television's old Netflix shows as well.

Marvel Television's old partnership with Netflix led to their creating some of their best shows, most notably ruthless assassin Bullseye. Poindexter was badly injured in a three-way battle with Daredevil and Kingpin, and a final scene revealed he agreed to undergo experimental surgery to repair his shattered back - an arc lifted straight from the comics. The camera focused on Poindexter's eyes, showing a bullseye in them, confirming this was an origin story for Bullseye. Unfortunately, Netflix canceled Daredevil season 4, and the cliffhanger was never delivered upon.

The introduction of Kingpin means Marvel Studios can do what Marvel Television could not - and finally bring Bullseye to life on the small screen, telling a tale featuring the brutal assassin-for-hire rather than just presenting an origin story. It's worth noting that Bullseye has a long history with Hawkeye in the comics as well as with Daredevil - he even impersonated Clint Barton during the famous "Dark Reign" era when several supervillains formed the so-called Dark Avengers. Bullseye is typically associated with Kingpin in the comics, so the introduction of the MCU's Wilson Fisk means it would be easy for Marvel to go a step further. Given Marvel Studios already seem to be bringing back d'Onofrio as a legacy actor reprising his classic role, they could even do the same with Wilson Bethel, allowing him to actually become Bullseye at last.

Bullseye sits on the ground shirtless in Daredevil.

Vincent d'Onofrio doesn't seem to be the only Daredevil actor returning in the mainstream MCU. There have been reports that Charlie Cox himself will appear in Spider-Man: No Way Home has certainly become a lot more likely. That would allow Marvel Studios to finally deliver on the cliffhanger from Daredevil season 3, because they could finally bring the feud between Daredevil and Bullseye to life.

The abrupt end of Marvel Television's deal with Netflix left a lot of cliffhangers unresolved. Most of these will probably be dropped because Marvel Studios don't seem to consider the old Marvel Television shows to be canon, but the decision to bring back legacy actors means some of the more tantalizing loose ends could finally be tied together. Hawkeye's Kingpin teasers hint at some exciting possibilities in the future of the MCU, and hopefully this time that potential won't be wasted.
