Hayley Atwell opens up about wanting to bring back Captain Carter in the the MCU timeline has still found ways to bring back other versions of her in The Multiverse Saga. The introduction of Captain Carter, who has appeared both in both animation and live-action projects, has opened a whole new door for Atwell, and fans have made it clear that they want to see more of her.
In a new interview with Den of Geek, Atwell was asked if she would be open to returning as Captain Carter in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, especially after how her cameo in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness led to her getting killed by the Scarlet Witch in an underwhelming cameo appearance. Atwell, who has been with the MCU since Captain America: The First Avenger, said she would love to portray Captain Carter in the Avengers movies, as she shared the following:
I would love that. There are so many things that she could do, there’s so much more I feel I can bring to a character because I’ve developed as time’s gone on. What’s so great about having time behind you and having had a 20-year career so far is the development of skill, and I think there’s so much more that Peggy can do. She’s very much an underserved character.
What Hayley Atwell's MCU Comments Mean For Captain Carter
It's clear from Atwell's comments that she enjoys working in the MCU, but she also feels the frustration of the fans, especially with how Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness gave her one of the worst cameos in the whole franchise. Given the nature of The Multiverse Saga, there is room to utilize other versions of Captain Carter in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. With Atwell still being game to continue portraying the character, the ball is in Marvel Studios' court.
What is interesting about Atwell's comments is that her reported Avengers: Doomsday casting from December 2024 doesn't get addressed, which could suggest that either that report was never true to begin with, or she's keeping a very big secret. Since Avengers: Doomsday filming has begun, time will tell whether she is actually in the film, particularly if the cast films on locations that are accessible to the public. If Captain Carter isn't back for Avengers: Doomsday, there is always the chance they could be saving her return for Avengers: Secret Wars.
Our Take On Hayley Atwell's MCU Comments
From everything Atwell shared about her interest in continuing as Captain Carter, the MCU star couldn't be more right about how there are so many more opportunities to keep utilizing her in the franchise. That is why there will hopefully be a place for Atwell in both Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, as this would be the proper time to do it while The Multiverse Saga is still happening. But for now, the world will have to wait and see if Atwell will show up again in the MCU anytime soon.
