HBO Max means that there's going to be an archive of old shows for new fans to enjoy. Not only this but by bringing all of these shows onto the streaming service, there's a chance some of them could get a small continuation.
Some of these shows deserve an extra few episodes, while others could be totally renewed. Here are 10 classic shows we want to see in the archives of HBO Max and perhaps even continued in some way.
The Sopranos
The series that defined big-budget television shows, this is often ranked as one of the most influential and important shows of all time. It's the sort of program that belongs in the streaming service.
The show has been confirmed for HBO Max, but it would be brilliant to see somewhat of an extension on the finale, perhaps using this as an opportunity to revisit these characters.
Sex And The City
The series that was also defining in of shows aimed at a certain target audience. This really defined the chick-flick genre on television and spawned many spin-offs and films.
The show deserves its prime spot on HBO Max as it certainly talks to an era in TV that has now ed. There are very few shows that will experience the same success as this.
Band Of Brothers
Series based on war are few and far between, but this is a show that lived up to the legendary creative team behind it and remains to this day a real hit for HBO; one that has stood the test of time.
This is a show that should be highlighted on the service and perhaps should have a spiritual successor to it, as it has had in the past. It's maybe time to continue this tradition of high art based on the lows of humanity.
Friends
The sit-com that resonated with so many across the world will be returning for a reunion special, which we know very little about. But this isn't enough for some fans and perhaps the characters deserve more.
It's great to know that the show will be featured, as it really should. however, it also deserves a bit of a scripted show following this unscripted reunion special which is sure to whet many appetites.
Smallville
There's plenty of DC heroes and villains which will be featured on HBO Max thanks to a number of original series and classic shows ing the platform. This was really the CW show that started it all.
Not only would it be great to see the series featured on the platform, but an extra season with this new powerless superman could be interesting to see how the universe has developed.
The Wire
Another show that has managed to continue to be relevant to this day, it's clear that it's only right for the series to be featured on HBO Max in quite a big way.
In order to celebrate the success of the show, so many years on, it might be appropriate to give it some form of a spin-off. It's been so influential on so many other shows of the genre that it makes sense to go back to the original.
Animaniacs
Although it's getting a revival on Hulu, it would be a shame not to see the original hit animated series return in some form on HBO Max. It would be great to see the original show and this reboot featured on there.
Unfortunately, the Hulu deal may indeed get in the way of this, but it's likely that many other Looney Tunes related shows will be available on the platform; this should certainly be one of those included.
Reign
This is a show that was well-received by critics overall and garnered quite a fan group, but unfortunately got cancelled before it could really conclude in the correct way.
The combination of magic and historical events certainly appealed to a wide demographic and the show should be able to be enjoyed by more people and perhaps even get a final season!
Gilmore Girls
This has often been described as an incredibly influential show and was a flagship of the WB channel for some time. It really deserves a space to be enjoyed by a new generation of people.
It likely has many elements that can appeal to people today and is the type of show that old fans would love to revisit again, in full HD! A reunion is always a possibility with the series as well.
Game Of Thrones
The song of ice and fire should certainly be available on HBO Max. While the franchise may be featured on the HBO channel, there should also be an exclusive series on the streaming service.
It's a platform that will certainly have the budget to cope with the needs of the franchise and would be the type of exclusive that would draw many old fans in.
