Recently, there have been quite a few brand new streaming services that have either been announced or launched. Among them is HBO Max, a streaming service that has quite a few people talking due to the news about Friends leaving Netflix in favor of this streaming service where a reunion special will also be airing. Along with getting a lot of existing movies and shows added to the service when it launches in May, HBO Max has also announced a number of original programs and has plans for a lot of brand new movies and documentaries that they'll be producing.
With so many streaming services these days, it can be tough for people to keep track of where the shows and movies they want to watch are available. Luckily, it's easy for people to sign up for one to watch a show they're interested in and cancel it to use another one later. With HBO Max launching in May 2020 and a number of brand new, original shows coming out in the near future, this might be a streaming service that some people are interested in.

The Shelley Society
Following Dickinson, HBO Max is producing their own historic series about a literary figure. The Shelley Society is set to follow a young Mary Shelley, author of Frankenstein, along with several other authors from the Romantic period of literature, including Lord Byron.
The show is set to be a combination of a teen romance and a Victorian version of a spooky supernatural show. It will feature a teen version of these writers and will have them facing off against a variety of different supernatural creatures, including the monster from Shelley's classic horror novel Frankenstein.
Point Horror
R.L. Stine is an author of children's horror and is known for his works that have been adapted into TV shows and films like Goosebumps. For people that grew up watching episodes of that show or reading the books it was based on in the 1990s, the news that another R.L. Stine series is being adapted into a horror anthology is very exciting.
Point Horror is a series of novels by R.L. Stine that have the same terrifying vibes as the original Goosebumps series, but now with a slightly more grown-up market. These novels will be adapted into an anthology series for HBO Max, similar to the other R.L. Stine series that have been turned into their own TV shows.
The Boondocks
The Boondocks is an animated series and among the older shows that will be getting a reboot on HBO Max. The original series aired from 2005 through 2014 and followed Huey and Riley after they moved to the suburbs to live with their grandfather. The show became popular for its commentary on social issues and the original series will be available for streaming on HBO Max when it launches.
Along with the original series, there will be two more seasons of the show being produced for HBO Max. A brand new order of two seasons, making up a total of 24 episodes, was announced as part of the new streaming service's lineup and a 50-minute special will also be making its way to the platform.
Grease: Rydell High
Grease is a movie that was released in 1978 and is a musical that follows a group of high school students living in the 1950s. The movie has become super popular over the years and has spawned a sequel, a Venezuelan TV series, and a live version of the musical. A prequel movie is also in the works, but that didn't stop HBO Max from creating their own spin-off TV series.
Unfortunately, there aren't a lot of details out about Grease: Rydell High just yet. What we do know is that it will bet set in the 1950s, just like the original movie, and will feature a number of catchy new, original songs. Hopefully, it lives up to the original!
Station Eleven
Station Eleven is a novel by Emily St. John Mandel that was released in 2014. The novel became immensely popular in the book world and follows the aftermath of a fictional virus outbreak that wipes out the majority of the Earth's population. The book follows the survivors who are trying to make a new life in the world post-disease.
The novel is being adapted into a miniseries for HBO Max and is scheduled to be released onto the streaming service sometime after the streaming service launches. Filming began in 2020 and it will star Mackenzie Davis, Himesh Patel, and David Wilmot.
Gossip Girl
While there is a new series called Gossip Girl being added to HBO Max, unfortunately, it won't be a continuation of the stories of Blair, Serena, Dan, and Chuck. The original Gossip Girl aired from 2007 through 2012 when it ended. HBO Max is currently producing a new series by the same name that will be a sequel or spin-off series to the original.
While it won't feature any of our old favorite characters, Kristen Bell is back on board to narrate the series like she did with the first one. The new series will follow a brand new group of wealthy New York City teens that come under the scrutiny of Gossip Girl's ever-present watch.
Jellystone!
Jellystone! is an animated series that will be premiering on HBO Max and is perfect for everyone that grew up with classic Hanna Barbera cartoons. The series will feature a variety of characters from those cartoons and will be created by the people behind other cartoons like Chowder.
Not a lot of details are known about this series just yet, but the fact that it features classic characters like Yogi Bear in a brand new series is definitely exciting for a lot of people that grew up with cartoons like that.
Tokyo Vice
Tokyo Vice is an crime drama based on Jake Adelstein's memoir by the same name. This dramatic crime series is set in the late 1990s and stars Ansel Elgort as Adelstein.
The show will, like the memoir it's based on, follow Adelstein during his days as a journalist after he relocates to Tokyo in order to report on the corrupt police force there. There's no word yet on when the series will be premiering in relation to the launch of HBO Max, but hopefully, there won't be too long of a wait.
Gremlins: Secrets Of The Mogwai
Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai is an series that will serve as a prequel to the classic 1980s moviefans of the fantasy series from the '80s are definitely excited.
The series will be set in Shanghai in the 1920s. A prequel to the 1984 film, this 10 episode-long series will tell the story of the way that a young Sam Wing met Gizmo, a young Mogwai.
Adventure Time: Distant Lands
Even though Adventure Time ended, fans won't have to be without their favorite characters for too long. HBO Max is bringing back Finn, Jake, and all of his friends for a total of four specials that will be exclusively on the streaming service after it launches.
Adventure Time: Distant Lands is the title of the group of hour-long specials that will be added to the streaming service. In total, four specials will be aired and the specials will feature our favorite characters with each special focusing on a different character or group of characters and their lives in Ooo after the original series ended.
