The crew from Pied Piper are set to wrap up their story as HBO confirms the long-running, Emmy-winning comedy King of the Hill creator Mike Judge. Over the past five seasons, the series has chronicled the rise and fall and rise of Pied Piper, a fledgling tech company that began life as a compression algorithm created by the anxiety-plagued Richard Hendricks (Thomas Middleditch), and later grew into a tech company that would usurp even the likes of the show’s Google-like entity, Hooli.
The show’s efforts to track the various ups and downs of Pied Piper and its mostly loyal computer gurus — Dinesh (Kumail Nanjiani) and Gilfoyle (Martin Starr) — as well as the various venture capitalists looking to invest tons of money and strike it rich has also come with its own ups and downs, notably the contentious departure of TJ Miller who played Erlich Bachman (and the realization the show would be just fine without him). But the course the narrative has been on for the past five seasons also meant the show would eventually have to come to an end, something that was largely hinted at in the season 5 finale, ‘Fifty-One Percent.’
As reported by Barry, starring Bill Hader. In a t statement, Judge and Berg had this to say:
“Silicon Valley has been a career and life highlight for us. We’ll miss it desperately, but we’ve always let Pied Piper’s journey guide the way, and Season 6 seems to be the fitting conclusion. We are forever indebted to our incredible cast, crew, and partners at HBO. At a certain point, there’s only so much we can do to make the world a better place.”
With Avenue 5 coming up from Veep creator Armando Iannucci, which stars Hugh Laurie and Valley’s own Zach Woods.
Silicon Valley season 6 will premiere sometime in 2020 on HBO.
