Returning Chivalry players will be familiar with the mechanics of Chivalry 2. Players have directional attack options for their melee weapons as well as a bow and arrow to fire at enemies from long range. While players are getting used to their personal fighting style, they may be wondering how to be more defensively efficient on the battlefield. Parrying and blocking are important, but what about for the health bar? Here’s how players can heal their characters in Chivalry 2.

Chivalry 2: How to Heal a Character

Chivalry 2’s healing mechanics are fairly straightforward. There are three different ways to heal in the game, with each option providing its own unique benefits. The three ways players can heal are using bandages, eating food items scattered throughout the map, and using certain subclasses’ options. Learning how to use each method of healing effectively can give players a significant advantage on the battlefield. As players are ruthlessly fighting for honor, or vengeance, across the map, proactive players can duck behind cover to get a quick heal in.

The first option for healing, bandages, fills up a permanent slot for up on the d-pad. Using a bandage with the d-pad will activate an animation that players must complete to heal a character’s injuries. Health regenerates over time using bandages, so players must stay aware of their surroundings during this animation. Bandages can be gathered from bandage boxes dropped by a footman or by looting ammo crates. The second option is eating food. Food is scattered throughout the beautifully crafted maps of Chivalry 2. Picking up the food allows players to double-tap the Battle Cry input to consume the food item and recover health over time. The last option requires players to have certain subclasses on their team. Vanguards and Knights can use a trumpet to heal allies, Archers and Knights can use a banner to heal allies, and the Footman can drop bandage kits that resupply allies’ bandages.

A far cry from the canceled fantasy-based Chivalry sequel, Chivalry 2’s realistic war-torn setting can be a ruthless place filled with death and destruction. Players who overcome these battles gain more and more experience to utilize against enemies. Staying defensively sound and aware of the health bar can give players a step up on the battlefield. Make sure to choose a character’s class with their special abilities in mind; these abilities can ensure a swift victory in Chivalry 2.
