Fans Wanted More, & Helen of Wyndhorn Delivers

King, Everly, and Lopes' previous work, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, is a stunning tale about a girl named Ruthye and the months she spends in Supergirl's company as they track Krem of the Yellow Hills (the man who murdered Ruthye's father) across the universe. The book's lush art, strong characterization, and themes of loss, strength, and perseverance earned it a 2023 Hugo nomination for Best Graphic Story or Comic. Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow's film adaptation will be directed by James Gunn as part of DC's relaunch of its cinematic universe.

The high bar set by Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow instantly makes Helen of Wyndhorn a title to watch. King, Evely, and Lopes have proven themselves to be masters of their craft, and the premise of "Wuthering Heights meets Conan" (as described by King on X) is an instant match for the high literary style that makes Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow such a stand-out read while still promising action and drama. It's seems probable that Helen will find herself sucked into the world of her grandfather's stories, clashing with larger-than-life characters in the process.

This is a title that plays to the proven strengths of the team involved, and it will be fascinating to see them build on Supergirl's success with Helen of Wyndhorn.

Helen of Wyndhorn will be available from Dark Horse Comics March 13, 2024.
