Developer Ninja Theory recently shared a brand-new screenshot from The Game Awards 2019. Minimal details have surfaced in the year and change since then, but fans of the original adventure are no less enthusiastic about what's on the horizon.
Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice launched on PC and skillfully tackles the subject of mental illness, and employs audio techniques that make the experience all the more impactful for players. It hardly comes as a surprise, then, that hopes are high for Hellblade II.
Recently, Ninja Theory showcased another look at Senua's Saga: Hellblade II with a screenshot post on Twitter. A caption accompanying the image reads: "Here's a cinematic lighting experiment for Senua's Saga: Hellblade II." Such wording indicates that what's on display isn't indicative of the final build. Still, it's a sight to behold as Senua stands in the foreground, obscuring light that streams in from the distance. The light itself forms around her in such a way that the details of Senua's character model, namely her hair and clothing, stand out even more.
The above image is no doubt impressive, offering a quick glimpse at how Ninja Theory continues to improve its technology. And make no mistake, the team in general has its heart set on emphasizing even the smallest of details. That much seems evident in the photorealistic visuals shown in a recent dev diary for Project: Mara, another of the studio's works-in-progress.
Last year, the 4v4 online brawler Bleeding Edge served as yet another title that Ninja Theory devoted much of its time and resources to. The game ultimately failed to gain any real traction, though, and, as a consequence, was shutdown a couple of weeks ago. Now it seems the group is hunkering down to wrap up the Hellblade sequel and other projects.
Senua's Saga: Hellblade II will launch on PC and Xbox Series X|S platforms on an unspecified date.
