controversy over Helldivers 2's PC performance in particular, as well as other issues, like previously attempting to require a PlayStation to play the PC version of the game, the third-person shooter has seen a steady stream of updates, and this next one has been on fans' radars for a while.
As posted on the PlayStation Blog, the latest Helldivers 2 major content update, Heart of Democracy, is now live. The new content takes players to Super Earth, which is being overrun by the Illuminate. Helldivers must return home, because it's "time to rise up and take arms and fight for the precious foundations and soil of Democracy manifest." The Illuminate will bring destruction to sprawling cities, and Helldivers will need to cooperate with the SEAF troops to protect civilians and repel the invasion.

The Helldivers Are Coming Home
The previous update for Helldivers 2 added the long-requested primary weapon customization and the new Illuminate enemies. That teaser for that update ended with the message: "Battle on Super Earth is inevitable," and that battle is finally here. Players will work to liberate cities together, which will have a significant impact on planetary campaigns. The invasion is described as an "intergalactic tug-of-war."

“That’s It?” Helldivers 2 Players Are Calling New Warbond “Unacceptable” For How Few Items Are Included
A new Warbond, Masters of Ceremony, is coming to Helldivers 2 in a week, but players are already bemoaning what it offers compared to past Warbonds.
Super Earth is not defenseless. Beneath Super Earth's streets lie Planetary Defense Cannons, which will be imperative in the repelling of the Illuminate. In addition to the Helldivers, Super Earth's SEAF troops will the battle and can be commanded. Players must also attempt to protect the civilians of Super Earth, and "any civilian lives lost from friendly fire will be punished."
This Is A Pivotal Moment For Helldivers 2
The Game Needs A Big Win
While Helldivers 2 has been mostly well-received, it has had its fair share of criticisms, and this new update might show how many players are still invested in this game's lore and gameplay. Earlier this year, Helldivers 2 developer, Arrowhead, assured fans that a whole planet was deleted from the game files, leading to A Major Order being unwinnable.
Over on Reddit, in a post by SovietMarma, fans are mostly celebrating this new adventure for Helldivers 2. jacku18 joked about having to protect Super Earth citizens, saying: "I suspect the helldivers will be more of a threat to the SEAF soldiers than the illuminate," in response to being able to kill friendly civilians on Super Earth. Now that the fight is being brought to a familiar but new area, and with the addition of primary weapon customization, Helldivers 2 might have gotten back on the right track.
