To battle the Terminids in Helldivers 2, you need weapons, and luckily, the game features a carefully curated arsenal of firearms and grenades for you to unlock. Your weapons are more than just tools for squashing bugs; instead, they define what role you choose to play in your co-op squad. Learning to move beyond your starting guns and unlock new weapons is essential.

To get new weapons, you and your squad will need to complete your battlefield objectives, taking on side missions and daily challenges to farm Helldivers 2’s Medals. Medals can then be spent to unlock new weapons via Warbonds, creating a nice loop where battling the Terminids gives you exactly what you need to add new weapons to your arsenal.

Once you’ve collected some Medals from killing Chargers on the battlefield, head to the Acquisitions Center by navigating to the top of your screen. This opens up the in-game store, where you can spend Medals to unlock weapons and other rewards such as Warbonds.

As of writing, players who’ve bought the standard edition of Helldivers 2 have access to Helldivers Mobilize! Warbonds and several pages of unlockable items and rewards to be claimed. Later pages have rewards that cost more Medals, and other useful items, such as Strategems, are also unlocked the same way. As such, it’s a good idea to prioritize weapons that best fit your chosen playstyle and build.

Alternatively, you can purchase Warbonds using Super Credits: Helldivers 2’s currency if you have money to spend. These are available as microtransactions from game storefronts, but you can actually get Super Credits for free – typically by completing Point of Interest (POI) side objectives.

Some weapons are locked behind the Steeled Veterans Warbond, which requires Super Credits to unlock. However, if you bought the Super Citizen Edition of the game, you’ll have access to the Warbond automatically.
