Another Warbond is coming to Helldivers 2 on May 15, but following its reveal, players are already critical of how little it's offering. Warbonds are the co-op shooter's steadiest influx of new content, charging players 1,000 Super Credits for new armor, weapons, stratagems, boosters, and more. Players have been vocal about a steady decline in each Warbond's content, though, and Masters of Ceremony is continuing the unfortunate trend.

Following the reveal of the Masters of Ceremony Warbond, the Helldivers subreddit has seen a noticeable number of posts criticizing the amount of items included. Creepy_Ad3991 says, "I'm sorry for being negative, but that's it?" Another , NizzyDeniro, is less meek in their criticism, saying, "Warbonds have less content, same price. This is UNACCEPTABLE!!" with screenshot comparisons to prove their point. As demonstrated, Masters of Ceremony has much fewer items to offer than previous Warbonds, like Cutting Edge and Democratic Detonation.

Helldivers 2 Warbonds Have Progressively Gotten Smaller, Prices Remain Unchanged

Warbond Content Seems To Be Split Off For The Super Store

The size of the Warbonds in Helldivers 2 has been a consistent concern as the game continues through its second year of live-service . While it's generally celebrated for letting players earn Super Credits in-game, the currency still has a real-dollar conversion rate, and is presumably a major component of Arrowhead Game Studios' revenue stream. Still, it's hard to overlook the fact that the Warbonds being released recently have verifiably fewer items than those from earlier in the game's lifespan.

Cutting Edge was the first Warbond release post-launch, and is a stark comparison to the Masters of Ceremony. The full contents of Cutting Edge include three armor sets, three primary weapons, a sidearm, a grenade, a booster, three player bnaners, three capes, and three emotes, while Masters of Ceremony has two armor sets, one primary weapon, a sidearm, one grenade, a stratagem, a booster, two banners, two capes, one emote, and a player title.

Despite the difference, Masters of Ceremony is presumed to cost the same 1,000 Super Credits, and there are frequent calls for these "lesser" Warbonds to be reduced in price. Exacerbating the issue is a practice that seemingly takes Warbond content and instead puts it up for purchase in the Super Store, costing additional Super Credits. A thematically consistent armor set, cape, and banner are d alongside Masters of Ceremony, but are noted as available in the Super Store instead.

Our Take: Helldivers 2 Has Too Much On Its Plate

New Content, New Warbonds, & Bug Fixes

Helldivers 2 character holding a saber above their head.

The steady decline of Warbond content indicates that Arrowhead is simply juggling too much at once. While compelling, the ongoing narrative of Helldivers 2, including all the new missions and enemy types it brings, must require a tremendous amount of resources. Developing separate content in the form of Warbonds alongside only adds to the amount of work. The developer has even slowed down its initial ambitions of one Warbond every month, and it's still not enough to result in a consistent amount of content in each one.

On top of bespoke new content, Helldivers 2 is consistently grappling with performance issues and the need for bug fixes. It's simply a reality of live-service game development that whenever something new is added, something else breaks. Masters of Ceremony is so far the only new addition officially revealed, but it's presumed to bring with it exciting new content, likely the return of the Illuminate and more enemy variants for the faction. While the content in this new Helldivers 2 Warbond seems to be generally well-received, the amount of said content continues to disappoint longtime players.
