Summary

  • A bug in Helldivers 2 causes Bile Titans to have significantly reduced health, rendering them easier to defeat.
  • Players can dispatch Bile Titans with just one to two shots when using the bug, simplifying progress.
  • The bug provides an ideal opportunity for Helldivers to take advantage of easier enemy encounters.

An unintended Helldiver Corps teams advancing deeper into hostile territory to collect resources, soldiers will encounter an array of challenging adversaries. Each boasts unique defensive abilities and attack patterns, layering on more and more pressure as they begin to swarm. The appearance of new enemies demands that Helldivers make meaningful shifts in their tactical thinking.

One such enemy, the Bile Titan, is among the most lethal Terminids in the game and can easily overwhelm the already-pressed Helldiver. As the name suggests, they love to spit corrosive bile on targets for massive damage – and can do so over great distances. Dealing with one is dangerous enough, yet it is not uncommon to be forced to juggle two or three. The heavily-armored Bile Titan forces Helldivers to swap tack and prioritize targets, all while dodging swarms of other Terminids. On the other hand, one game bug makes these monstrous threats almost harmless.

One-Shot Bile Titans In Lobbies Hosted By PS5 Players

When a PS5 player hosts a lobby, the bug significantly modifies the Bile Titan’s health value, turning what used to be a major threat into more of an afterthought. Although it is possible to trigger the bug simply by having a PS5 player along for the mission, the anomaly is easy to replicate consistently so long as they are hosting. The giants are still dangerous if unchallenged, but Helldivers can now dispatch them with relative ease, making Terminid missions the logical choice when aiming to progress quickly.

For context, it is important to appreciate how much effort Bile Titans demand under normal circumstances. For missions that include only PC s, Titans require 10 to 20 shots to kill using the RS-422 Railgun or the AC-3 Arc Thrower. In rare instances, a single Bile Titan can take up to 23 shots – which is to say nothing of situations where Helldivers need to defeat multiple Titans along with swarms of smaller Terminids. Needless to say, those on PC usually have their work cut out for them.

Everything New Coming To Helldivers 2 Warbond: Cutting Edge

Helldivers 2 is receiving a third Warbond, Cutting Edge, on March 14. Here’s every new item currently revealed, including new armor and weapons.

Should they a lobby hosted by a PS5 , however, they’ll find a drastically different experience under the same circumstances. The same stress-inducing tyrants can all be killed with one to two shots using the same weapons. It is also worth noting this happens regardless of how much either gun has been charged. This drop in health value turns adversaries that are supposed to be challenging into lumbering targets barely worthy of the diver’s full attention.

According to YouTuber OhDough, the PS5 host cannot benefit from the bug, but anyone else in the lobby can.

Helldivers Should Take Advantage Of The Bug While They Can

Helldivers will want to take advantage of this bug while they can since the difficulty drop when facing Bile Titans is clearly unintended behavior. Elements such as aim assist, player skill, and timing fail to replicate the same anomaly reliably, and yet it is consistently achieved when PS5 players host the mission lobby. For those capable of ing PS5 lobbies regularly, the bug should make acquiring resources and leveling up easier now that Bile Titans equate to little risk and minimal effort.

Helldivers 2 Review: "A Refreshingly Fun Power Fantasy"

Helldivers 2 is just about the best-case scenario for a live-service game, and its show-stopping gameplay delivers incredibly visceral moments.

Those not able to PS5 lobbies regularly will need to contend with Bile Titans as they were intended. While some may wish for the Titans to remain challenging and chaotic encounters, Helldivers hoping for the chance to progress at the same rate as others have ample reason to be frustrated by the disparity this bug produces. Whatever the case may be, knowing how to respond to any of the game’s enemies is only valuable if the difficulty remains consistent.

Given the developer’s frequency of updating the game, it is unlikely this bug will exist in Helldivers 2 for much longer, though. As Arrowhead Studios continues to respond to player and balance the game’s difficulty, Bile Titans stand to return to their former dominating glory with every new patch and hotfix. While they should address the game’s balance, so the difficulty is consistent regardless of platform, the bug offers an opportune window for those wishing for an easier time against a particularly nasty foe.
