UPDATE: 2025/05/07 17:10 EST BY LARA JACKSON

Clarification from PlayStation.

Since the publication of this article, a PlayStation PR representative has reached out to ScreenRant with clarification. The trailer mentioned in this article, believed by Redditors to have been ed to YouTube in error before being removed, is a pre-existing asset that can be seen on the PlayStation Blog, and is not a new trailer ed in error. The trailer does not directly allude to or reference a potential Xbox release, and this is just speculation made by Redditors. Original article as follows.

A new trailer for not available on Xbox, despite the community's general hope that it'll reach more platforms.

A new trailer seems to be aimed at recruiting new Helldivers, but it has mysteriously been taken down. The trailer was shared by Reddit Financial-Customer24, who believes PlayStation removed the video, indicating it was ed and made public by accident. Footage shows a lengthy sizzle reel of Helldivers 2 gameplay, with a voice-over recounting many of the ongoing story's major events, attempting to persuade new players into buying the game. The post's comments are filled with speculation that this is aimed at Xbox players, with one person saying "I'm putting on the biggest tinfoil hat in history and hope this is for an Xbox release."

Helldivers 2 Players Hope New Trailer Indicates An Xbox Version Coming Soon

HD2 Is A PlayStation Console Exclusive

Even though there's been no indication of an Xbox port for Helldivers 2, the playerbase has been hoping for one since its release. The game was a phenomenon when it launched, and many felt that, since it released concurrently on PC, there was at least a chance that Sony would green-light an Xbox port. Developer Arrowhead Game Studios is not owned by Sony, so Helldivers 2 isn't a first-party exclusive, so there is theoretically a chance of the game reaching Xbox players.

It could end up in a similar situation to Death Stranding releasing on Xbox – an exclusive third-party title published by Sony that lost its console exclusivity. Death Stranding's PC and Xbox versions were published by 505 Games, though, and there's no evidence to suggest Arrowhead has reached such an agreement with another company. In fact, the leaked Helldivers 2 trailer is bookended by PlayStation logos; in Death Stranding's Xbox trailers (like this one from the Xbox YouTube channel), the Xbox logo flashes before 505 Games' logo, only followed by "Sony Interactive Entertainment presents" in the game's font.

Our Take: Helldivers 2 On Xbox Still Feels Unlikely, But The Removed Trailer Is Suspicious

It Could Just Be General Promo Material

With much-needed technical fixes).

It's hard to deny, though, that the leaked trailer's tone is acutely aimed at recruiting new players. It's a crash course in the major in-game events, punctuated by the game's bombastic, organically cinematic gameplay. It feels like the perfect kind of trailer to drop at next month's Summer Game Fest, but in reality, it's more likely to be a filler trailer for an PlayStation Showcase or State of Play. For now, the Second Galactic War rages on, and only time will tell if reinforcements will arrive via a Helldivers 2 Xbox version.
