However, not every companion's ability is as valuable as others, so it's important to consider which ones it's worth putting in the work for, first.

13 Cinnamoroll Is An Undeiable Fan-Favorite

While Cinnamoroll is an undeniable fan-favorite in the world of Sanrio, unfortunately, he is one of the only characters in the game who only provides one companion ability, Super Balloons. Cinnamaroll's ability allows players to float further while using the balloons, which are often used as a sort of gentle descending or gliding tool.

While this is a great feature, Kuromi also offers something similar while still providing another ability, making this one feel a little lackluster. Furthermore, while the majority of characters are often found in the same location and easy to track down, Cinnamoroll is always on the move, ing through the fast-travel mailboxes. This means that to even track down this character, players often have to open and inspect the map, making Cinnamoroll a rather annoying resident.

12 Badtz-Maru Deserves A Bigger Spotlight

The Cool Prankster Runs A Small Stand

Badtz-Maru is one of Sanrio's characters who doesn't get the spotlight as often as he should. While he may not be as obviously cute as characters like Cinnamoroll or Hello Kitty, this prankster still has some charm that is showcased in Hello Kitty Island Adventure. On the island, Badtz-Maru runs a small stand, but more importantly, he is the go-to resident for all things fishing-related.

Not only is Badtz-Maru who teaches you to fish, but one of his companion abilities, Fish Whisperer, gives players increased chances at catching rare fish. That being said, Badtz-Maru is also a big fan of fun and games, which is why his other ability, Gamer, allows players a free shot at some of the games around the island without the use of a ticket. Unfortunately, while he's a joy to have around, he still doesn't hold as much value in gameplay when it comes to other residents.

11 Tuxedosam Is All About Fashion

The Fashionable Penguin With The Clothing Shop

It should come as no surprise to players that Tuxedosam, the most fashionable of Sanrio's characters, is in charge of the only clothing shop in Big Adventures Park. In theme with that, he provides you with thread, which can be used to craft fabric, anytime you present him with gifts, and one of his main abilities centers around clothing. Some of the outfits in Hello Kitty Island Adventure offer players unique boosts, which Tuxedosam's Fashionista ability, boosts even more.

Not every outfit will outwardly state its ability when you receive it, but some can be inferred. For example, players will be happy to find that the mermaid outfit slows stamina usage while diving underwater and even has a unique swimming animation.

While this is a great feature, the additional boost feels a bit unnecessary as most of the outfits with a unique power work well enough without any help. However, Tuxedosam's other ability, Negotiator, is much more useful as he's able to occasionally snag you an extra item while shopping at some of the places around the island.

10 Pompompurin Provides Help Early On

The Sweet Dog With The Dessert Shop

After reaching the northern part of the map, players will run into Pompompurin, who they may have already met on the plane, at his dessert shop. Here, players will be able to prepare all kinds of sweet treats for other residents around the island and increase their friendships, but Pompompurnin himself can provide some valuable help early on as well.

As players may know, traversing some of the areas around the map, particularly Mount Hothead, can be irritating when lacking additional stamina. However, Pompompurin's ability, Pudding Pants, can make things a little less frustrating as he provides the ability to jump higher, and it's unlocked relatively early. Furthermore, his other ability slows down the timer on island challenges, which makes up for his pretty mediocre gift of Bananas.

9 Pochacco Is All About Fitness

The Athletic Pup Can Be Found Running On Paths

After getting to the island, Pochacco wastes no time getting back into the routine of staying fit and can often be found running up and down paths at the resort when not looking for Gudetama. While Pochacco isn't the most helpful resident, there is one key ability that can help speed things along, literally, especially while still unlocking some of the fast-travel mailboxes.

Poochacho's Speed Walker ability gives players a boost to their walking speed, something that may seem small in theory but can be heavily appreciated when trekking back and forth to complete tasks. Furthermore, the other ability, Relay, gets residents to help out on island challenges, which is just another way to make things easier for players. Pochacco is all about the quality of life improvements for players, making him a valuable friend.

8 Keroppi Is A Sanrio Fan-Favorite

The Bug-Loving Frog At Big Adventures Park

Keroppi is another one of Sanrio's characters that often falls into the fan-favorite character, as it's practically impossible not to see how adorable this small delightful frog is. At Big Adventures Park, Keroppi is in charge of running the Nature Preserve, something that is relatively similar to the Museum in Animal Crossing, where players will collect various critters from around the island.

In keeping with the theme, Keroppi's abilities also center around creature catching. The first, Critter Friend, gives players a better chance at approaching bugs on the island without them scurrying away, while the other ability, Critter Calmer, simply slows them down, making them easier to catch. Since these little critters make great gifts and are needed for the Nature Preserve, both of Keroppi's abilities are heavily appreciated.

7 Chococat Is One Of The Most Involved Characters

Chococat is arguably one of the most involved residents on the island as he is present for nearly every big quest that players have to complete related to the main story. In addition, he is also the main resident associated with crafting, even providing you with a crafting material as his friendship gift.

It's recommended that players work on leveling up Chococat as early as possible since he is most valuable early on in the game and loses value, at least in of abilities, as the game progresses.

Since Chococat is so heavily involved in things around the island, it only makes sense that one of his abilities would include providing hints while completing puzzles around the island. Furthermore, to be of even more assistance, he can also provide the chance to craft an extra item when using the crafting bench, making it worth leveling up as soon as possible.

6 Hangyodon Will Put On A Hilarious Show

The Clown Fish Resides Underwater

Hangyodon is one of the few residents players won't have access to right away since he resides underwater, which seems only fitting given that he's a fish. Once players have unlocked the Snorkel and can dive to greet him, he can be found inside his comedy club where he'll eventually need assistance putting on a hilarious show for the other residents.

While Hangyodon is just a great character to have around in general, the real value comes in his friendship gift. His abilities, which include swimming faster and a better chance for rare fish, are nice but not entirely necessary and nowhere near as valuable as Candlenut. Candlenut is Hangyodon's friendship gift, which is the necessary ingredient to use the espresso machine in Hello Kitty Island Adventure, an extremely valuable appliance that can help make two-hearted gifts early for several characters.

5 Retsuko Is One Of The Most Interesting Characters

The Rage-Filled Red Panda Restores Mount Hothead

Retsuko is perhaps one of the most interesting characters on the island. Despite her cute and docile appearance, a fiery rage dwells deep within her, which players will get the occasional glimpse at as they help her restore the appropriately named Mount Hothead. Retsuko is one of the few residents who are not only fun to be around, but are also helpful.

Her first ability permits players to swim in molten lava, while her other reduces the rate at which Stamina decreases. Both of these abilities are extremely valuable while completing tasks around the island and certainly make Mount Hothead less of a pain to explore. Finally, her friendship gift, Dough, is the only way to use the pizza oven, where players can prepare gifts for other residents.

4 Pekkle Lets You Change The Time Of Day

The Dancing Bird Gives You Access To The Soda Machine

Pekkle is another, similar to Badtz-Maru, that can easily fly under the radar for a lot of players. He's not as outwardly cute as other residents, but that doesn't mean he should be forgotten about. In fact, Pekkle is one of the most helpful residents in the game and worth befriending as soon as possible.

Hello Kitty Island Adventure does not follow real-time day and night cycles like Animal Crossing. So, time jumping is not an alternative to Pekkle's ability, and is strongly advised against, since it will break the game and prohibit certain features from ever being accessible on the associated .

Not only does Pekkle give players access to the Soda Machine, another cooking appliance used to make treats for residents on the island, but he also has phenomenal abilities. The first ability gifts players the ability to climb faster, which, again, can make traversing significantly easier. The second, however, lets players change the time of day. This ability is huge since several quests can only progress during a certain time of day, saving players a significant amount of time.
