Henry Cavill has been imagined as a live-action MCU art. After rising to stardom in The Tudors, and missing out on roles in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Twilight, and Casino Royale, British actor Henry Cavill was cast as Clark Kent, a.k.a. Superman, in Man of Steel, the first film in Warner Bros.' DC Extended Universe. Cavill's portrayal of Superman led to him becoming a household name, yet he was dropped from the role in 2022 after the establishment of DC Studios. Now with no ties to the DCEU, Cavill has been a popular fan-cast in a major role for the MCU, instead.
Since his departure from the DCEU, the MCU timeline.
Although there has been no word from Marvel Studios on Captain Britain's debut in the MCU, the character has been speculated to be appearing in several projects. With Henry Cavill no longer tied to the DCEU, he may be the perfect choice to portray the MCU's Captain Britain in the Multiverse Saga.
Captain Britain Would Be Perfect For The MCU’s Multiverse Saga
In Marvel Comics, an injured Brian Braddock was approached by Merlyn and Roma with the opportunity of becoming the superhero Captain Britain, choosing the Amulet of Right over the Sword of Might and being tasked with protecting the United Kingdom - similarly to Captain America for the United States. Braddock became part of a bigger story, however, as his ascension to Captain Britain also saw him the Captain Britain Corps, a team of multiversal versions of himself all tasked with protecting their reality's UK. The MCU's Multiverse Saga provides the perfect opportunity for Marvel Studios to introduce the Captain Britain Corps, along with the MCU's own Captain Britain.
Brian Braddock's sister, Betsy, succeeded him as Captain Britain prior to her time with the X-Men as the hero Psylocke. After Disney's acquisition of Fox was finalized in 2019, Marvel Studios began integrating mutants into the MCU, so the introduction of Brian and Betsy Braddock would make complete sense before Phase 6's Avengers: Secret Wars brings the Multiverse Saga to a close. This opens the door for Henry Cavill to portray Captain Britain, and for the MCU's X-Men team to be teased, while also fitting perfectly in the overarching storyline of the Multiverse Saga.
