Henry Cavill is currently rumored to the The Witcher, it does not come as a surprise that Henry Cavill is said to be in talks with Marvel Studios for the possibility of being added to the MCU's roster. While this fact has yet to be either confirmed or denied, that has not stopped fans from speculating about the role he may perform.

Cavill has certainly expressed interest in being a part of the MCU, having acknowledged the number of Cavill MCU fan castings on the internet. He has yet to be fully confirmed, however, as he has revealed that he is contracted to appear in one last DCEU film. It would make sense for Marvel to not bring him in just yet until his time at their comic competitor has come to an end, and his reign as the Man of Steel is definitively (and sadly) over.

Having been seen playing both heroes and villains on screen, this places Cavill in an interesting position. Given his acting range, he has the capacity to play a surplus of Marvel roles, but there are a handful of favorites that the fans specifically want to see him play the most. These are several Marvel characters that Henry Cavill has been fan-cast as by the community.

Wolverine

Marvel's Midnight Suns Wolverine

Now that Disney has bought out 20th Century Fox, they have acquired for themselves the rights to the properties that the studio once held. Included in this vast list is two of Marvel Comics' most famous superhero teams: the Ms. Marvel, is surely inevitable at this point, it is simply uncertain as to when it will happen. In the meantime, though, fans have been speculating just who could play which character.

Regarding Henry Cavill, a rather large portion of the fan base has already cast him as arguably Marvel's most famous X-Man, Logan Howlett, a.k.a. the Wolverine. The metal-clawed mutant has starred in a wealth of Fox movies, with every single performance being done by the illustrious Hugh Jackman, who has become synonymous with the character. Jackman has since retired from playing Wolverine, leaving it for other actors like Cavill to take up the mantle. However, while the idea of him slicing up enemies with adamantium claws may sound appealing, Cavill does not seem to be the best fit due to Wolverine's notoriously brutish tendencies and standoffish attitude. Not to mention there would be a great deal of pressure on him as he would be the one to follow Jackman's legendary performances. As a result, it would undoubtedly be a tough act to follow.

Cyclops

Wolverine is not the only member of the X-Men that Cavill could play. In particular, the characters of Peter Rasputin/Colossus and Scott Summers/Cyclops have generated significant scrutiny. While he may not be the best fit for Colossus given that the role is a bit more obscure compared to others (with the exception of Colossus' appearances in Deadpool and Deadpool 2), the thought of him portraying Cyclops is intriguing. Cavill has the bravado and intensity to match Summers' no-nonsense demeanor, making him a worthy candidate for playing the X-Men's leader and tactician. Plus, the idea of Cavill wearing Cyclops' signature visor makes the casting even more exciting. The only counter to this argument is that Cyclops has already had three actors portray him in Fox's films: James Marsden, Tim Pocock, and, most recently, Tye Sheridan. While the latter two technically played younger versions of Summers, it could be possible that, because of the MCU's multiverse, Marsden could have the opportunity to return to the role.

Doctor Doom

One of the characters that fans have been itching the most to see in the MCU is the one and only in a future James Bond film). Cavill would be a prime choice for bringing Doctor Doom to life properly. The only downside would be that his face would have to be covered by a metal mask the entire time, potentially limiting the impact of such a significant casting decision.

Union Jack

Given the fact the Cavill hails from the United Kingdom, it would make sense for him to play a character that represents his country. One such character is James Falsworth a.k.a. Union Jack. Jack may be a bit niche in of his popularity, but would fit perfectly within the MCU, even better if Cavill portrayed him. Jack is a walking arsenal of a man that specializes in covert operations and espionage. He's highly skilled in the arts of armed and unarmed combat similar to the likes of Secret Invasion, with Golden Globe-winning actress Olivia Colman possibly playing a female version of the role.

Captain Britain

Another famous Marvel hero hailing from the UK is the character of Brian Braddock, better known as Captain Britain, a man given magical superpowers by the great Arthurian wizard Merlyn. Given that magic and other mystical themes have made their ways into the MCU thanks to the likes of Doctor Strange and Moon Knight, it could be highly plausible for the Captain to make an appearance sometime in the near future. This character is the one that Henry Cavill has been fan-cast as the most, as there are many fan-created pictures and artwork depicting him dressed in Captain Britain's suit (or at least a modernized version of it). Cavill himself has actually commented on this in an interview, saying that he would not be opposed to portraying the character if given the opportunity.

Hyperion

Hyperion, Marvel's Superman, standing in front of a bright light.

Hyperion is arguably one of Marvel's more obscure creations. The character of Mark/Marcus Milton is of the race of extraterrestrial beings known as the Eternals, a group which had their own film outing back in 2021. Eternals are cosmic beings that use vast amounts of otherworldly energy to perform impossible feats. In Hyperion's case, he has super strength, speed, flight, senses, and even heat vision. To put it bluntly, he is one of two characters that are essentially copycats of DC's most iconic hero, Superman. Given that Cavill has played the Man of Steel himself, it could definitely be argued that he would have no trouble with playing a Marvel imitation. It would be interesting to see how he could spin the typical Superman demeanor in order to play an entirely new (yet very similar) character.

Sentry

Sentry flies into action in Marvel Comics

Much like Hyperion, Sentry is another Superman wannabe, however his story and powers are incredibly different and perhaps even more compelling. Robert "Bob" Reynolds is a super soldier whose being is split in half, with one side being good and the other being bad. The good side is known as the Sentry, a very powerful superhero with incredible strength and the power to manipulate light and energy. The bad side is simply known as the Void, a super villain that can shape-shift and control darkness, as well as attack people's minds. A story such as Sentry's is such a compelling one, and it could be a fantastic way for Cavill to show off his skills as an actor. Similar to Hyperion, though, it could be a bit risky for the Marvel Cinematic Universe to bring in a Superman copy, but thanks to Henry Cavill's history as the Man of Steel, it could be a part that would be easy for him to portray.
