When Deadpool & Wolverine, I couldn't be more excited, but I have to it that the actor's next big franchises are going to be even greater. Since his breakout playing Superman in Zack Snyder's Man of Steel, Henry Cavill has taken on an impressive array of iconic characters. Clark Kent was just the start of Cavill's trajectory, as he has since played Geralt in The Witcher, Sherlock Holmes in Enola Holmes, and Napoleon Solo in The Man from U.N.C.L.E. Yet, this Cavill trend is not ending any time soon.
The last couple of years have been uniquely tumultuous for Henry Cavill. Though Cavill's portrayal of The Witcher's Geralt has been lauded by critics and audiences alike, the actor decided to leave the franchise under unclear circumstances, leaving Liam Hemsworth to take his place. Around the same time, DC booted Cavill from his role as Superman, putting David Corenswet in the part instead. Despite these setbacks, Cavill has a bright future ahead of him. In fact, I believe that Cavill is heading into a new era of his career that could be even greater than what he has done before.

Highlander & Warhammer 40k Can Be Henry Cavill’s Next Franchises
Why Cavill's New Roles Are Perfect
Henry Cavill's departure from The Witcher and Superman were definitely disappointments, but I personally can't wait for his next franchise roles. First and foremost, Cavill is slated to star in the Highlander reboot. The remake has been in development for quite a long time, but with Cavill in the driver's seat, the movie is supposedly going to begin filming in January 2025. Additionally, Cavill is going to be the face of the Warhammer 40k television adaptation at Amazon. This series is in development, but at this point, is still confirmed to be happening.
Another project Henry Cavill is a part of is the new Guy Ritchie movie, In the Grey.
Highlander and Warhammer 40k are perfect replacements for Henry Cavill's previous franchises. Both stories provide Cavill with an opportunity to play fantastical heroes with incredible skill and honor. I can see many ways in which Cavill's role as an immortal warrior in Highlander will parallel Geralt. Furthermore, Cavill has proved that he prioritizes accuracy above all else. Supposedly, The Witcher because of the showrunners' many changes to the source material. Thus, audiences can be assured that Henry Cavill will try his best to give a thorough and detailed performance.
I’m Not Sure If Henry Cavill Will Ever Play Wolverine Again
Cavillrine Is Better As A One-Off
Among Henry Cavill's new and exciting projects is Deadpool & Wolverine. Cavill's participation in the Marvel crossover movie was so unexpected and hilarious, but also a hugely important moment for the actor. In just a minute-long scene, Cavill was officially inducted into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With just that tiny role, Cavill could now return at any time, and arguably, in any role due to the multiverse. However, I'm not quite sure if this is the route Cavill or Marvel wants to take. If anything, I think Cavillrine is a better one-off cameo than a recurring trend.
Cavill appearing in a Marvel movie is notable because of the way he left DC in 2023.
Cavillrine is a great joke, but doesn't quite work as a long-running character. What made Cavill's cameo so exciting was all the subtext behind it. Cavill appearing in a Marvel movie is notable because of the way he left DC in 2023. Furthermore, Cavill's participation in various different major franchises makes him a familiar face that most audiences would enjoy seeing. However, I believe Cavill's cameo reached the extent of the joke. Bringing Cavill back into the MCU in the future may feel like a reach. As much as I loved Cavillrine, it is better that the character ends here.

Henry Cavill Keeps Collecting Iconic Characters Ever Since Superman
Where Cavill Could Go Next
It seems to me that Henry Cavill does not plan on slowing down his accumulation of iconic characters, and I am totally fine with that. It has been amazing to see Cavill shift into so many different legendary roles, from Clark Kent to Sherlock Holmes to Wolverine. It almost seems unlikely that one actor could shapeshift into so many different important stories, yet Cavill does it seamlessly. I have faith that his next franchises, Highlander and Warhammer 40k, are going to be just as strong.
I can't help but wonder what Henry Cavill will get into next. As previously mentioned, Cavill could become a Marvel regular. On the flip side, maybe Cavill will find a different superhero to embody outside the two big superhero franchises. Then again, fantasy seems to be Cavill's strong suit, so perhaps another game-turned-TV-show will be his next big project. Regardless, I can't wait to see the new era of Henry Cavill.
