Henry Cavill officially confirms he is back as Justice League were met with divisive responses. Once Zack Snyder exited the franchise, Superman was surprisingly pushed to the side by DC Films. This included reports that Cavill was out as the DCEU's Superman, which seemingly gained traction with the studio developing new Superman movies that would reboot the character.
After years of uncertainty surrounding his future as Superman, Henry Cavill appeared in Man of Steel 2 was re-entering development at WB and DC.
Now that Black Adam is out in theaters, Henry Cavill has taken to social media to share a first look at his Superman return and tease what else is to come. The actor confirmed that he is officially back as Superman for the DCEU following the Black Adam cameo. Cavill could not reveal any more details about what is to come, but he did say that the post-credits scene and the image shared in his post are just "a very small taste of what's to come."
Henry Cavill's Superman Announcement Is A Great Sign For Man of Steel 2
The confirmation from Henry Cavill that he is back as Superman is the latest sign that Man of Steel 2 might finally be happening. Warner Bros. has been developing variations of a Man of Steel sequel for nearly a decade, but those efforts were largely disbanded a few years ago. This came as the studio looked to make a Black Superman movie, which is still in development, and introduce Supergirl (Sasha Calle) in The Flash. Henry Cavill's Superman announcement finally confirms that he is still very much part of the DCEU's future. It also puts to rest any concern that nothing will come from Black Adam's cameo.
Even though Cavill does not mention Man of Steel 2 as part of his Superman return video, there is little doubt that the movie is part of the plans he is teasing. It is no coincidence that reports of the sequel's development surfaced right before the Black Adam post-credits scene. Warner Bros. seems to finally be ready to give audiences more of Henry Cavill's Superman. Man of Steel 2 is the perfect place for these efforts to continue. And with Cavill being so excited to be back, hopefully, development on the sequel and Superman's future does not take too much time.
