Alongside Death Stranding's 2019 release, Kojima took a look back on his career with his book, The Creative Gene. The game developer's book is now being translated to English and will release on October 12, 2021 (via Polygon). The book will be published by Viz and features a collection of essays from Kojima about some of his creative inspirations, reviews of movies, and much more. The following description also gives more insight to the book. "Ever since he was a child, Metal Gear Solid and Death Stranding creator Hideo Kojima was a voracious consumer of movies, music, and books. They ignited his ion for stories and storytelling, and the results can be seen in his groundbreaking, iconic video games. Now the head of independent studio Kojima Productions, Kojima’s enthusiasm for entertainment media has never waned. This collection of essays explores some of the inspirations behind one of the titans of the video game industry, and offers an exclusive insight into one of the brightest minds in pop culture."

Kojima is already reportedly hard at work on his next game, but there are currently no real details as to what the game will entail. It's possible that he will go and make a sequel to Death Stranding or something entirely new. There has been speculation that Konami may have licensed out the rights to Silent Hill to Sony to allow Kojima to go off and make his fabled horror game that was abruptly canceled. This is pure speculation with nothing concrete to really it.

Another rumor floating around with a bit more substance is that Hideo Kojima is working on a brand-new PS5 enhanced version of Death Stranding is coming. The rumored re-release would also include new story content, extending the story.  Of course, it's just a rumor, so take it with a grain of salt until it's officially confirmed.
