Warning: Spoilers for High Potential season 1
Morgan Gillory is often the smartest person in the room in High Potential. However, that doesn't make her perfect. Despite all her strengths, Kaitlin Olsen's character boasts a significant flaw in the series, one that a particular episode of High Potential's first season has since confirmed.
Morgan is an unassuming single mother of three. She's a cleaning lady for the LAPD, but she has a superpower. She has been diagnosed with High Intellectual Potential (HIP), with an IQ of 160. While considered "intellectually gifted," she views it as a curse. Her brain can't shut off once there is a problem to solve. While she's smart, she's not always right, and High Potential season 2 can work with that.
High Potential Episode 11 Reveals That Morgan Doesn't Know Everything
Morgan Can Be Preoccupied With Other Tasks
Morgan quickly proved her skills after becoming a consultant for the LAPD's Major Crimes department. The former cleaning lady can see things that others can't, pointing out flaws in an investigation and helping to pinpoint the true victims and suspects. However, she also proved in High Potential that while she is smart, she doesn't know everything. In High Potential season 1, episode 11, Morgan didn't know about a prominent cold case Lieutenant Soto had once worked on. This case involved a wealthy family and it was all over the news. Karadec was shocked to learn that Morgan had no idea about it considering the way her brain works.

High Potential Needs To Break A Bad Habit With Morgan’s Children In Season 2
High Potential needs to change just one thing about how the show utilizes Morgan’s children moving into the next season.
It turns out that Morgan was busy being a mom at the time of the murder. The show brought a flashback of Morgan caring for a baby Elliot with a toddler Ava running around in the background. Evidently, other events in Morgan's life have resulted in her not being well-informed on certain matters.
Morgan Not Knowing Everything Makes High Potential More Exciting
Other Characters Get Time to Shine in High Potential
Being a genius is a great hook for the series. It works to draw new viewers in, but eventually, that hook can get old and stale. Each case could end up being easily solved by Morgan having bits of information stashed away in her brain. The High Potential season 1 finale showed how she is a master of obscure knowledge, leading to her solving a case that nobody else could in time.
The series does need to show the cops solving the case, but there needs to be a character flaw to make the main character human and relatable.
The series does need to show the cops solving the case, but there needs to be a character flaw to make the main character human and relatable. High Potential has that with Morgan's weakness. If she isn't keeping up with what's going in her community, that could be an obstacle in future cases. There are then questions about how the LAPD can solve the mystery, upping the stakes.
