New details about High Potential episode 8, Morgan Gillory (Kaitlin Olson) had a few things to be thankful for. She survived a hostage situation, solved another case, and even got her own desk at work. She may also be starting up a new romance with Tom (played by Mayans M.C. alum JD Pardo), albeit with some trepidation.

TVLine has shared the first images of season 1, episode 8, ahead of High Potential's return to ABC on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at 9 PM ET, which highlights Morgan and Tom getting friendly. The Two Storylines Might Just Collide

High Potential season 1 generally has kept away from major developments in Roman's story, even though it serves as the driving force of the hit ABC show. Morgan agrees to help the police, in part because she gets an agreement that they'll use their resources to help look for Roman. But in seven episodes, there hasn't been a lot of movement on the Roman mystery, as the series focuses more on case-of-the-week elements and building out Morgan's partnership with Detective Karadec (Daniel Sunjata).

Although it may not happen in a single episode, Morgan getting closer to Tom and the truth about Roman could collide. High Potential season 2 is not confirmed, but it's almost certain to happen given the show's viewership success for ABC. The second installment could be all about how Roman's return, and what she hopes to find, ends up being complicated for her.

The Chemistry Is There

There is a lot of discussion about who Morgan should end up with in High Potential, if anyone, with Detective Karadec being the obvious choice. Olson has some solid chemistry in her scenes with Pardo all the same, which is something that showrunner Todd Harthan and the rest of the writing team should explore further before making any decisions. So, hopefully, Tom's last appearance won't be episode 8.
